Chapter 8
I shot a disdainful glance at the shameless couple, then without hesitation, I fired
back, “Just because you’re eager to be a stepmother, does that mean everyone else is as shameless as you? I’m just Lumi’s tutor. If you keep spreading these rumors, I’ll call the police.”
“Who told you to be a tutor?” Adrian, enraged, sneered. “You call it tutoring, but really, it’s just being a nanny, isn’t it?”
“Send the child back and quit this job.”
“Adrian, are you out of your mind? We’ve been divorced for a while now. What I do has nothing to do with you anymore,” I said, rolling my eyes in disdain.

When we were together, I always tried to accommodate him because he was my husband.
But now, we were divorced, and my life was none of his business. He had no right to interfere, no say in how I chose to live it.
“Is this how poor you’ve become? Even having to do a demeaning job like being a nanny?” Adrian
toward me to grab my arm.
O Said in disbelief, moving
I didn’t hesitate to retort, my words laced with all the frustration I’d felt during the years I had spent tolerating him: “I earn my living through my own hard work. How is that demeaning? You and that shameless woman parading around together, that’s truly beneath dignity”
I yanked my arm free from his grasp and

tried to walk away with Lumi.
She was a shy, introverted girl. While I had been alone with her, we’d had some conversations, but now, with Yuna and Adrian around, she seemed visibly frightened and kept shrinking away.
“Hazel, who gave you the right to speak to me like that?” Adrian charged forward and grabbed me again, his face full of disbelief.
I glared at his hand on my arm, disgust written all over my face. “Let go!”
Seemingly stung by my disgust, he reflexively let go of me.
I took Lumi home and apologized for the unpleasant experience I had inadvertently caused her.

Lumi shook her head, not bothered at all. She curiously asked me, “Auntie, is being a tutor such a lowly job?”
“How could it be? As long as you earn your living through your own hard work, there’s no such thing as a lowly job,” I quickly corrected her, explaining more about career choices and the value of honest work.
That evening, the employer decided to hire
- me.
A tutoring salary of fifteen thousand was already quite high for someone with no previous work experience.
I immediately shared the good news with Elena.
Elena was thrilled for me. I pushed aside the earlier encounter with Adrian and Yuna

and focused on preparing for my tutoring lessons.
After a week of work, my employer called me into his office.
“Before you continue working, you s handle this situation,” he said, showing me his phone.
That’s when I noticed that, sometime in the past few days, rumors had spread widely online about how I had divorced just to become a nanny for a rich man.
In the posts, my son was accusing me loudly.
He claimed I didn’t love him, didn’t care about him, and was only focused on finding a wealthier man.

I didn’t need to see any more–I already knew who was behind this.
“Ms. Stritch, we are paying a premium salary because we want an outstanding tutor for
our child. Can you understand that?” the employer reprimanded me.
“Mr. Grant, please rest assured, I will handle this matter immediately, I assured him.
My employer knew what kind of person I was after working with me for a week.
He was satisfied with how I handled the child, so he gave me half a day off to take care of the issue.
I immediately went to find Elena.
Together, we tracked down the account spreading the rumors and saved her

misleading posts using blockchain technology.
Without warning, we filed a lawsuit.
I sent the lawyer’s letter out through my account, while also outlining the timeline of the events.
The audience watching the drama unfold was left in shock.
“So, the mistress pushed the wife out, and now she’s turning the tables and spreading rumors about her online?”
“Is this how they plan to destroy the original wife?”
“She’s doing whatever she can to survive, even working as a tutor, and still has to deal with these false accusations.”
