But Grant always seemed to find his way to
her.
Sometimes it was because he couldn’t figure out how to use a local app and he‘ d ask her to walk him through it, step by step. Other times, he’d ruin an egg and, with a pitiful expression, beg her to teach him how to get it perfectly golden on both sides. Or he d struggle to express a simple sentence, tugging at her sleeve and asking if she could help him practice.
Every time Rebecca helped him, he picked it up quickly, gazing at her with such admiration, it was as if she were the most extraordinary person in the world.
“Beckie, how are you so amazing?” he d
say.
Rebecca often blushed under his gaze and later, she couldn’t help but replay those moments in her mind. Was she really that

impressive? Could someone like her really have anything remarkable to offer?
Soon, Rebecca found herself treating Grant
like a student.
“You‘ re not using that feature correctly.”
“Cooking fish is just like frying an egg.”
“How could you not even explain yourself properly?”
It wasn’t until later that Rebecca learned, despite Grant‘ s childhood abroad, he had received a great deal of education from the best teachers. On top of that, he was a child prodigy, fluent in eight languages. As for cooking…
Grant had almost godlike taste buds–most dishes, after tasting them once, he could
recreate the exact same flavor.
Grant kept this talent well hidden though.
At least, Rebecca–who was naive and overly sensitive–never suspected that she

might be living in her own “Truman Show.”
On the contrary, under Grant’s guidance, she gradually shed her self–doubt and insecurity, often feeling smarter than the so–called “genius boy” everyone else talked about.
Grant took her stargazing one night and halfway through, Rebecca realized she had become the scenery in his eyes.
She asked, “Why are you looking at me like
that?”
Grant replied, “Because I’ve realized, Beckie, that you look even more beautiful when you’re looking up than when you’re looking down.”
At nineteen, Rebecca and Grant officially became a couple. The older members of the Saunders Family weren’t thrilled about
Rebecca.
Whispers started circulating, with some suggesting that Rebecca had been after

Grant’s wealth all along. They claimed she pretended to be down on her luck to get into the Saunders Family, only to eventually seduce the heir.
Whenever Grant caught wind of these rumors, he would quickly step in to defend
her.
He was always gentle, but when his gaze turned fierce, no one could hold his stare for more than three seconds.
The rumors quickly died down. Even his parents‘ objections were quieted by
Grant.
At that, Rebecca felt a mixture of joy and
fear.
Though the opposition had faded, Grant was exceptional. There were countless girls around him and she couldn’t convince
herself she was the most remarkable of
them all.
Grant, however, could always sense her insecurities. So, every day, he would write

At first. Rebecca assumed it was just a playful game. The letters were probably empok nothing more than a tease.
But when curiosity got the best of her and she finally opened one. she was stunned to

Soon, everyone at school knew that the campus heartthrob. Grant, was pursuing a girl–and that she refused to accept him.
The other girls who had hoped to get close to him stepped back.
In his own way. Grant made it clear to
Rebecca. “In this whole world. I only love Beckie.”
