Chapter 20
Finally, at the age of twenty one, they held a grand engagement ceremony. Everyone in the city knew that Grant was going to marry Rebecca.
When the dazzling diamond ring slipped onto her fourth finger, Rebecca almost burst into tears. For the entire following year, she basked in the joy of their love.
Then, during their graduation trip, she wanted to prove to Grant that she had truly become braver. So, they chose Mount Gravenwood as their destination.
It was on that trip that Rebecca died from a
red fruit.
Grant, along with a professional rescue team, searched for a whole year, until finally, they unearthed Rebecca from the layer of rotting soil beneath the fallen leaves.
Those who had been part of the search said

that, compared to the lifeless body of Rebecca, Grant seemed more like a walking corpse–only when he saw his beloved did his eyes spark with the light of a living person.
No one knew exactly when Rebecca had died. Or rather, Rebecca hadn‘ t died at all.
Her body showed no signs of decay and even her pale complexion held a faint flush. If one listened carefully, it almost seemed as though something in her chest was still beating.
Medically, it was impossible to prove that Rebecca was still alive.
Grant didn’t care about that. He carefully cradled Rebecca‘ s body and brought her home, treating her like a normal wife.
For two years, Grant tried countless. methods. Although none succeeded, he never gave up. He believed that his Beckie would come back to him one day.

Sure enough, on this day, two years later, Rebecca woke up.
The sweet memories from before slowly became clearer as Lumina regained consciousness.
She gradually accepted Grant calling her “Beckie,” even though in the depths of her mind, she still saw herself as Lumina.
As long as Grant loved her, she thought, a name was just a label.
Perhaps because he had lost her once, Grant became particularly anxious and couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing his lover in his sight.
It was as if the roles of Rebecca and Grant had completely reversed.
Then, on a bright, sunny morning, Lumina leaned into Grant‘ s embrace and said, “Grant, let’s get married.”
Under the sunlight, Grant‘ s eyelashes fluttered ever so slightly. He had wanted to

say those words the moment Rebecca first
woke up.
In truth, Grant was afraid that if Rebecca slept for too long, she might forget the bond they shared. He was terrified of scaring his Beckie.
But Rebecca brought the talk herself. Without hesitation, Grant nodded.

month.
Lumina’s physical recovery was going. well. Just two weeks later, she was able to leave the hospital.
As she stepped out of the ward, she suddenly felt as though she had stepped into another world. At the same time, strange memories kept flashing in her mind.
It was as if something was guiding her, leading her all the way to the top floor.
Usually, there were five or six security

guards and nurses rotating shifts here, but strangely, there was no one at the door this
time.
So Lumina easily walked inside.
The pure white walls looked like the ones in her room, but there was something different about them–something that hinted at pain and suppression.
She pushed open the innermost door and finally, she saw the person lying on the hospital bed.
It was a young woman.
Her face was so pale, she seemed to be lying there, as if she had already stopped breathing.
When Lumina saw her, for some unknown reason, those strange memories began to rush back. She had to hold onto the bed
frame to steady herself.
