Chapter 21
Just as her hand fell, her fingertips seemed to brush against something soft. It felt like the hand of the person lying in the bed.
Before she could process it, the machines. blared with a loud, constant “beep, beep, beep” alarm and the red emergency light outside the door began flashing wildly.
Lumina was startled, rushing to the wall for support as she scrambled to run out. Thankfully, her reflexes were quick and she managed to leave the top floor in time.
But even after reaching the lower levels, her heart was still pounding wildly, as if it might leap out of her chest.
Her body, still in the early stages of recovery, had been further shocked by the sudden scare. After a rushed run, she was on the verge of collapse.
Just before she passed out, she saw a figure charging toward her.

When she regained consciousness, she found herself lying in a bedroom.
The familiar surroundings felt… almost
like…
In the next moment, Grant was holding her hand. “Beckie, you’re finally awake.”
Despite his best efforts to remain composed, a line of fear broke through on
his face.
No one knew how panicked and terrified he had been when he saw Rebecca collapse before him.
Everyone saw Grant as a fool–a man who had spent three years waiting for
Rebecca‘ s return. But no one knew the
toll those years had taken on him.
The endless days and nights, the whispers. urging him to give up, the constant fear. that she would never open her eyes again- it had all become a suffocating nightmare.
He was terrified of not being able to sleep.

He feared that if he kept fighting it, his body would eventually betray him. But he was equally afraid of falling asleep, because in his dreams, Rebecca would always slip away from him, forever lost to some stranger‘ s embrace.
His heart was heavy with fear and aching
Sorrow.
But there was nothing he could do. Day after day, he sat beside Rebecca‘ s bed, clinging to the fragile hope that his Beckie would return to him.
Maybe, out of sheer pity, the heavens. finally granted his wish and Rebecca awoke.
He could tell that in many ways, she was still the same–but something about her was subtly different now.
Yet it didn’t matter. All he wanted, all he needed, was for Beckie to be awake.
But when the day came for her discharge and she still didn‘ t show, panic surged

through him. He rushed into the hospital, desperate to find her.
Just as he reached her room, he saw Rebecca slowly collapsing in front of him.
For a heart–stopping moment, he thought history was about to repeat itself.
Fortunately, this time, Beckie didn’t keep him waiting long. Even so, the fear that had been building inside him erupted and he pulled Rebecca tightly into his arms.
“Beckie, don’t leave me. Please, never leave me again.”
Lumina’s heart ached as if a piece of it had been torn away and a flood of pain rushed in to fill the emptiness.
She gently wiped the tears from Grant‘ s face. I won’t leave you. I’ve fought so hard to be with you again. How could I ever bear to leave?”
When Floyd received the call from his assistant, he was in the lake, desperately

searching for a ring.
The engagement ring he had thrown away in front of Lumina and Grandma Alice.
After three rounds of consultations with
the world’s leading doctors, both
domestic and international, no one had been able to explain Lumina’s condition.
No breath, no brain activity, just the faintest rise and fall of her chest.
Some even believed she should be
considered clinically dead.
But Floyd refused to accept that. Luminal was still lying there, perfectly still, but she hadn’t opened her eyes. She was alive!
Without a clear diagnosis, there were few treatments that could be pursued.
