Chapter 6
The next morning, Alpha Cynthia came bouncing in again.
“How did you sleep last night, sis?”
I looked at her rosy cheeks, it seemed Alpha Kennard’s consolation had been quite effective.
“It’s just the two of us here, Alpha Cynthia. You don’t need to pretend.”
Without lifting my head, I spoke coldly.
Alpha Cynthia didn’t expect my sudden change in attitude, she was taken aback, hesitating to say something, but seeing I didn’t spare her a glance.

She plopped down on the edge of my bed.
Casually, she brushed her left wrist, and the sunlight glinted off it, catching my eye.
I turned to look at the bracelet, finding it oddly familiar.
“Where did you get that?”
Alpha Cynthia acted as if she didn’t want me to see the bracelet and quickly pulled her hand back with an “Oops.”
“I’m sorry, sister, I didn’t mean to show it. I just mentioned it was pretty and Alpha Kennard went ahead and bought it.”
Watching Alpha Cynthia immersed in her own performance, I felt nothing inside.
I had one exactly like it, Alpha Kennard had

told me it was a designer original, the only one in the world.
Now seeing Alpha Cynthia’s behavior, it was obvious whose was the true limited edition.
Coincidentally, Alpha Kennard arrived just in time.
“Emma, you’re awake! Perfect timing–I didn’t go to Packhouse today. I came home to make chicken soup for you.”
He held a steaming bowl out to me, his expectant gaze fixed on my face.
I stared at it without a word, letting the silence stretch.
The longer it lingered, the more uncomfortable he became. His hand trembled slightly, the bowl wobbling.

Cynthia, her expression darkening with every passing second, finally snapped.
She snatched the bowl from him, her tone laced with mock sadness.
“Sis, How can you be so ungrateful? Alpha Kennard made this soup just for you! Even I’ve never had his homemade chicken soup.”
The bitterness in her voice almost made me laugh.
“Homemade?” I scoffed. “More like he supervised the housekeeper making it.”
Her eyes widened in shock, but I wasn’t done.
“And besides,” I added coolly, “he’s my mate. Who do you think you are, speaking up

here?”
Alpha Cynthia’s face crumpled as if I’d slapped her. She set the bowl down with a shaky hand before fleeing the room, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Emma! How could you talk to Cynthia like that? You hurt her feelings!”
Alpha Kennard seemed shocked by my words, looking at me with disbelief.
He turned to chase after Alpha Cynthia.
“Stop right there.”
I spoke calm.
“Don’t think you can bully Cynthia just because you’re my Luna and their biological daughter!” he snapped, his tone filled with

righteous indignation.
“I’m going to get her back, and you will apologize to her immediately.”
Bully? Who was bullying whom?
I stared at the man I’d loved for five long years, my heart heavy with bitterness.
“The bracelet on Cynthia’s wrist,” I said, my voice steady. “You bought it for her, didn’t you?”
Alpha Kennard’s face stiffened, the anger melting away abruptly.
“Why are you asking about that?” he hedged, clearly uncomfortable.
“You told me it was one of a kind,” I continued. “That only I had it. Now Cynthia

has one too. So, Kennard, which one of us has the real ‘limited edition‘?”
For a moment, he said nothing. Then, with a heavy sigh, he knelt beside my bed, taking my uninjured hand in his.
“Emma,” he murmured, his voice soft and pleading, “real or not doesn’t matter. You’re my true mate.”
“I know you’re jealous of Cynthia right now, but she’s really just a sister to me, nothing more. You have to believe me.”
I withdrew my hand, wiping it disdainfully on the blanket as if his touch was something very dirty.
Looking at this man, I no longer believed a word he said.

Just as I was about to mock Alpha Kennard, I caught sight of a white figure at the doorway from the corner of my eye.
So I changed my mind.
“Honey, I knew you love me and would do anything for me, right?”
Alpha Kennard, surprised by my shift, nodded eagerly.
“Then I want some muffins, go get them for me.”
“I’m on it.”
Alpha Kennara hurriedly got up to leave.
He bumped into Alpha Cynthia at the door but didn’t even exchange a word, rushing
out.

Seeing the hatred in Alpha Cynthia’s eyes, I felt nothing but delight.
The repulsion from having just called Alpha Kennard “honey” dissipated quite a bit.
