Ruthless Mafia 36

Approaching the jet, Zorah was aware her feet were dragging. Despite knowing Sidonia was already aboard the aircraft,
she was bloody terrified. She’d never been in a plane before. Heck, Providence didn’t even have a subway transit system,
and she’d never left Rhode Island until she’d come to New York in the helicopter. She hadn’t liked the helicopter ride
very much and she was extremely nervous about this mode of transport.
“Zorah!” Sidonia’s voice called her from the tiny opening to the large aircraft. “Come on! You should see it in here. It’s
huge!”
“That’s what she said!” Vodingo called from the bottom of the stairs and Sidonia giggled while Icaro made a groan
behind her.
“What does he mean?” Zorah asked Icaro with confusion.
He came to a grinding halt. “Holy shit, were you allowed to watch any television growing up?”
“Not really.”
“When Sidonia called out it’s huge, Vodingo was talking about his dick instead of the aircraft, alleging Sidonia said the
same thing about his cock,” he motioned for her to precede him. “Dad’s already on board and he’s antsy.”
“Of course,” she frowned and then paused, “I don’t get the joke. Sidonia already told me he’s got a big penis.”
Icaro’s mouth fell open at her blunt statement and then watched as she started to walk away.
Reaching the stairs, Vodingo stopped her.
“I heard you spent an eventful night. How are you feeling now?”
“I’d feel better if I knew the woman wasn’t dead, but nobody is telling me anything.”
“Because we don’t know anything yet,” Icaro complained. “She’s in surgery.”
“Icaro, before we get on board, I’d like a couple minutes with you.” Vodingo said boldly.
“Dad is already pissed we’re late.” He shot another look at Zorah who shrugged. “She’s making me wonder if she missed
her calling. She should be used for torturing souls.” He winked at her as she climbed ahead of him.
Zorah entered the plane was surprised by the layout. It was not what she was expecting. It was a warm creamy color from
front to back with hints of gold and warm wood tones. One side of the aircraft was all benches and sofas, and the other
side were what she could only describe as quads. Four chairs, all facing each other with small tables in the middle of
them, were plush and elegant, in a warm beige leather.
Sidonia was waving her towards him in the second set of quads behind where Dagoberto and his three brothers were
seated. She noted other than the seats she supposed were for her, Icaro and Vodingo, the rest of the seats were filled
with guards including the man who’d brought the injection the night before.
She shot him a scowl and then noted the man beside him. She frowned and motioned to Sidonia, “he looks familiar.”
“I said the same thing when we got on the plane and Vodingo said he’s been assigned to you for almost two years. His
name is Uranio, and he reports to Vodingo. They’re cousins. He’s Melchiore’s oldest son. He’s our age. He was splitting
the security over you with two other men. They’ve both been let go I guess because they didn’t call it in when you went
on dates.”
“Great,” she flung into the seat next to Sidonia.
“I heard last night was bad.” Sidonia whispered.
“Horrible.”
“Did he really shoot a woman?” Sidonia whispered in her ear.
“Yes. Right in the knee and I swear he didn’t even look for more than a half second. It was as if it was purely instinct. He
simply turned and shot and hit his mark. It would have been neat in a movie but not in real life. He kept on questioning
her while she was laying there with blood coming out of her leg.”
“Vodingo said there are always people trying to kill them and they tend to react rather quickly to situations. He said they
both learned from this to ensure we’re removed from the situation before it explodes next time.”
“It’s the next time I’m stressed over,” she admitted. “How many more women are going to come claiming my husband?”
“I don’t know but I’m trying not to think of it with Vodingo. I want to believe now he’s met me, he’s going to be satisfied
with just me.”
Zorah shrugged, “what’s Icaro’s excuse? He knew of me.”
“What?”
“He said he knew I was his one,” she mocked the word, “from the time he first held me in his arms when I was a baby. Why then did he spend the next twenty years sleeping with anything who would part their knees?”
“I didn’t consider it like this,” Sidonia whispered.
“As for Vodingo, if he knew you were out there somewhere, whether he found you or not, why didn’t he wait? Seriously
one or two relationships I can understand but this mindless fucking,” she was getting used to the word, “is beyond my
comprehension.”
Sidonia’s eyes grew wide as a perspective she hadn’t contemplated was presented to her. “Oh, my goodness. I didn’t
even consider this!”
Amauri who was openly eavesdropping shrugged, “some of us don’t meet until late in life, Sidonia. Icaro and Vod are
both thirty-five. While Icaro found his, Vodingo didn’t until now. One of Dad’s uncles only found her when they were in
their fifties. I’m hoping mine is coming sooner rather than later. I do not wish to be alone forever.”
“And this excuses you from being selective in how many women you screw around with? Do you know how it would feel
to your special person to find out you disregarded them so much you couldn’t be bothered to wait?”
He shrugged, “not all women wait, Zorah. Uranio has a half brother eight years older than him. He works for my uncle in
his car dealership back home.” He swivelled back in his seat and began conversing again in Italian to the three other men
seated with him.
“What the hell is taking those two so long?” Dagoberto griped loudly and then gave a clap as Icaro and Vodingo entered
into the plane. “About damn time! I want to get home and you two are outside gossiping like a pair of hens.”
Icaro shot Zorah a look as he took the seat opposite her and then he reached out and yanked her from the seat she was
in and put her next to him.
“My wife sits with me, not with anyone else.”
At his angry countenance, Zorah shivered and wondered if she were in trouble. As the cabin doors closed for takeoff,
Zorah suddenly felt a rush of panic.
Was he going to punish her?
