Chapter 10
“There’s nothing impossible about it, Frank. Do you remember that night in Italy? The child is yours. I’ve never been with anyone else, and the timing matches perfectly.”
“I’m not keeping this child. You can get rid of it, Frank said coldly.
“This is your own child, how can you be so heartless?” Joanna said, both heartbroken and furious.
“Bang“-Joanna dropped to her knees in front of me, her eyes brimming with tears as she pleaded, “Anna, please, grant us this. Give the child a complete family.”
“I’ll grant you that. I truly wish you both a lifetime of happiness,” I said, stepping aside

to avoid her kneeling. I didn’t want to be treated liked that.
“Joanna, get up. Don’t make things harder for Anna. We’ll talk about our issues later,” Frank said, his face full of displeasure.
“Frank, just admit it. She’s only my replacement. The one you’ve always loved is me. Stop pretending. I have proof, you know. Should I show it to you right here?” Joanna taunted.
Seeing the dramatic change in Frank’s expression, I felt like I was discovering a new world. I never knew his face could be so expressive.
“Slap“-Frank slapped Joanna across the face, then turned to me, his gaze softening.
“Anna, I’ll take care of this. I don’t agree to

the divorce. Come back home with me. I love you, Frank said, lowering his posture and begging.
“No. You even have a baby, and you’re still talking about loving me? I don’t want that kind of overflowing love,” I said, dismissing him with a wave.
“Handle your own problems. Don’t keep bothering me. Just sign the divorce papers, I have to go to work. I’m not going to waste any more time on this.”
I couldn’t be bothered to talk to them. With a child, what more needed to be said?
The days without Frank were incredibly freeing. I didn’t have to report to him about where I was going, nor did I have to do things his way.

I had been waiting for the divorce papers, but they still hadn’t arrived.
It had been a while since I’d heard from Joanna, but now, she was back at it again.
“Anna, don’t be so shameless. You’re playing hard to get, using the divorce to make Frank stay with you. We already have a child. Just leave him,” she sent, her words filled with
venom.
Reading this, I couldn’t help but laugh in anger. This was the thief calling out to catch the thief–she was excellent at playing the victim.
“Then tell your Frank to sign the papers quickly. I don’t want him bothering me any longer.”
“As long as you stop clinging to him, I’ll make

sure he signs,” she replied, sending a smug emoji,
“I’ll be waiting for the good news,” I responded, genuinely amused.
The next day, when I opened the door, I saw Frank standing at the threshold. His face was far from the handsome, well–groomed appearance it usually had. Now, it was covered with stubble, with dark circles under his eyes.
