Chapter 13
After the ceremony, Evan and I left early.
I had been planning to take a short trip for a while; it had been too long since I last traveled, and I decided to use up my vacation days.
When Evan found out I was planning to go, he started pestering me, trying every method to convince me to let him come along.
I rejected him at first, but once I boarded the plane, I found out he was sitting right next to
- me.
There was no way out, so I reluctantly agreed to let him come along.
We arrived in beautiful Italy, immersing

ourselves in the unique local culture and soaking in the breathtaking scenery.
During a local event, Evan once again. confessed his feelings for me. Amid the teasing of the people around us, I took a moment to think and finally agreed to be with him.
The joy on his face made me smile, and I couldn’t help but feel his sincerity.
Italy’s charm was so overwhelming that, as my vacation was about to end, I decided to extend it.
And so, the two of us spent a wonderful time exploring Italy–experiencing its distinct culture, savoring its delicious cuisine, and adjusting to the time difference.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be happier,

I received a message from Joanna. This time, unlike her usual boasting, she was complaining.
She told me that Frank was cooking meals she didn’t even like. As I looked at the photos she sent, it felt almost ironic.
These were all dishes I used to love, but he never made them for me. Now, what was the point?
I didn’t reply, but Joanna continued sending messages, much like before- complaining about Frank in every word, her dissatisfaction clear in every line.
It had barely been a few months since they got married, and already things seemed to be falling apart. It seemed Frank wasn’t as perfect as he’d once appeared.

After finishing up in Italy, we headed to France. Only once we arrived did we truly appreciate the overwhelming beauty of nature that it offered.
The lavender fields of France swayed gracefully in the breeze, and walking through the vast expanse of Provence, I felt a profound sense of peace.
Eventually, the vacation ended, and I returned home. As I neared my front door, I saw a familiar figure standing there.
It was Frank.
As I got closer, I could see the exhaustion on his face–his eyes were dull, like a balloon that had deflated.
“Anna, you’re finally back. Can we try again? I’ve divorced Joanna,” he said, his voice low.

I raised my hand, fingers interlaced with Evan’s.
Smiling, I said, “Frank, it’s over between us. I’ve started a new [unbing–chapter–export] Chapter in my life. We are in the past now. Since you and Joanna are married, you two should make the most of it.”
“No, that’s
not it. I was wrong. I regret it. Joanna’s a shrew–always causing trouble, making my life a nightmare. I’m exhausted. This isn’t the life I want,” Frank said, frustration clear on his face.
“The life you have is the one you chose,” I replied calmly. “You have to face the consequences of your choices.”
“I’ve found my own happiness now. Please

don’t come here and disturb me anymore.” I gazed at Evan with tenderness in my eyes.
Evan had given me a new kind of happiness, and this kind of life was pretty good too.
Letting go of the past, forgiving myself- happiness is something you must seize with both hands.
The end.

I returned home, filled with joy, only to witness my husband’s betrayal with my own eyes.
The girl curled up in his arms was none other than my student, Chloe.

He reprimanded me with righteous indignation:
“You’re just a hen that can’t lay eggs. Clove says she’ll let you be the godmother to the child, so at least you’ll have a legacy. What else could you possibly be unhappy about?”
What he didn’t know, however, was that I was already two months pregnant.
