Chapter 23
After a while, the gossiping voices outside crased, leaving Dolores puzzled. She stepped out only to see Adam smoking by the sink, and the froze finally asking. What are you doing here!”
Adam’s face was siern, his gaze fixed on her, with a mocking and sarcastic smile playing at the corner of his lips. “Disappointed to see me Who are you hoping for instead
Dolores rolled her eyes. “This is the women’s room. Who could I possibly hope for? Are you out of your mind?”
Then Dolores walked over to wash her hands, her emotions slightly calmer, but her face was will pale. Suddenly, Adam grabbed her chin, turning her face to him forcibly. “All this fuss over a watch!”
Adam’s words explained everything, it was all his doing.
Dolores glared at him. “You did it on purpose!”
Adam smirked. “It’s just a watch. If you didn’t attach some special, unforgettable significance to it, it’s merely an accessory. Instead of questioning whether I did it on purpose, maybe you should ask yourself if you haven’t forgotten about him.”
As if to remind her, Adam called out a title slowly. “Mrs. Walcott”
Hearing this. Dolores frowned. Now, whenever she heard the title, it felt like a shackle, suffocating her. She tried to push his hand away, but his dominance left her no escape.
“Dolores, do you now regret going to my bed“” Adam asked.
Dolores replied, “If it weren’t for that watch, I wouldn’t have gone to your bed
Adam knew this better than anyone. Then he laughed coldly, pulling her into his arms, e
enveloping her completely in his strong masculine
“I suppose so. When you saw my face then, you resisted. If it had been Theo in bed instead, your first time would’ve been pleasurable, not painful, right?” Adam said deliberately.
“Adam, do you really have to disgust me like this?” Dolores replied.
“Disgusting” Adam’s smile was cold and said, “After compromising for so long, now that he’s back, you can’t wait to divorce me and run to him. Do you think he’d want a divorced woman?”
Dolores had thought she was immune to Adam’s provocations, but she had underestimated his cruelty.
Now Dolores‘ heart felt like it was being bound by a web tightly, suffocating her. She blinked, trying to hide the tears welling up
“Think whatever you want. Il be at the city hall tomorrow. We must divorce. Dolores didn’t get to finish as Adam’s sudden kiss swallowed her

Dolores was nearly suffocated by the forceful kiss, tasting the familiar minty and struggled, he had already lifted her onto the sink behind them.
Dolores skirt got in the way, forcing her legs to wrap around his waist, creating an erotic scene
Then footsteps approached from outside, and someone pushed open the bathroom door hurriedly. This interruption made Adam’s already harsh features even more dangerous. His shirt had a few buttons undone, revealing his chiseled chest.
Adam glared at the two women at the door, his voice low and angry. “Get out”
The two women, shocked to see such a scene, fled in embarrassment, muttering apologies. One of the glanced at Dolores, but Adam’s body shielded her entirely, revealing only her black dress,
This interruption made Adam cease his kiss. He looked down at Dolores, her eyes red. Whether from the grievance or his bullying, he couldn’t tell.
Soon, Adam released her, his contempt dripping from every word. “A man who refused to help you you be to remember him for three years!”

Dolores, her chin lifted defiantly, retorted, “It’s because of my pathetic self that I endured a painful marriage for three years

Silence fell over the bathroom.
After a long while, Adam’s lips curved into a faint smile. “A painful marriage? What a pity. I’m quite satisfied with it, so I don’t plan to divorce.”
Dolores looked up sharply. If her previous pallor could be masked by blush, now even blush couldn’t cover her ashen face. “Adam, just to spite me. you’d let your beloved woman be labeled a homewrecker!”
Adam didn’t answer, as if it didn’t matter. He straightened his clothes and walked out of the bathroom. When Dolores composed herself and came out, Adam was nowhere to be seen. Then she found a corner to blend into, minimizing her presence.
No one at the party approached her, avoiding her as if touching her would taint them. Dolores only sneered and she didn’t want to deal with them either. But while they ignored her, they whispered about her behind her back.
Dolores had just sat down in the lounge with some dessert when she overheard a conversation from behind the partition. “People from nouveau niche backgrounds really have no manners. Doing that kind of thing in the bathroom. When I opened the door, her clothes were half–off.”
“No wonder she got rejected by Theo and then hooked up with Adam. Men do like those wild and shameless types,” someone said.
“Please, Mr. Walcott is just playing around. Everyone knows he likes the pure and innocent type like Alison. Dolores just caught him at the right time, delivering herself while Alison was away another added.
Hearing this, Dolores couldn’t help but laugh. She leaned over and said, “If you want to know what Adam thinks, ask him yourself. Maybe he’s just into wild and shameless types.”
The women looked up, shocked to see Dolores. Their faces changed, one of them frowning in disgust. “We’re chatting, why butt in? So rude!”
“Oh, so gossiping behind someone’s back is considered polite? Sorry. I’m not from your circle, I don’t know your rules. Maybe I should go ask. Adam Dolores suggested.
At the mention of Adam’s name, the women backed down immediately, muttering curses as they left.
Social circles have their hierarchies, and clearly, they weren’t in Adam’s league.
Dolores watched them leave in a hurry, scoffing. “Dealing with villains requires setting a dog on them, she thought. Losing her appetite, she headed to the balcony outside..
Later, Dolores thought she must have been cursed that night, encountering one bad luck after another. She just wanted a moment alone but ran into Theo, who was there to sober up.
Compared to this, Dolores would rather go back and listen to the gossip. As she turned to head back to the hall, Theo called out, “Dolores”
