Chapter Forty–Two
Alpha Kadden POV
Gamma Thorn was waiting in the living room of the manor when his alpha descended down the steps. He couldn’t withhold the loud rancorous laughter that erupted from his mouth when he saw who was in his presence. For it was none other than Von Silvervayne, preening in satisfaction with a bright smile, who stood at his side. It was clear she was going.

Yes, he had. When I’d first made the decision to leave Von at the manor Gamina Thom had warned me it wouldn’t happen. That there was no way that my suddenly clingy mate was going to allow me to leave without her. Of course, Td ignored him. Confident that I’d be able to convince Von it was for the best, her remaining in the pack was the safes. She hadn’t listened. For the last two days, the two of us fought nonstop, her informing me she was leaving with me.
The final showdown was last night when I’d come in expecting to spend one last night together, i hadn’t gone according to plin. Because the two of us entered into a final showdown that made me feel like we were in the wild west. A meltdown was more like it. Van informed me in no uncertain terms if I dared to leave her behind then she’d cut off sex. Permanently Whether she was carrying my cub wouldn’t matter. I wouldn’t ever be allowed between her thighs. Rhavage was outraged, just as Diamond went ballatic. Neither was pleased because of me they were being denied each other’s presence to be together. The worst pan of all came when she severed Diamond’s connection, not even able to reach lavage.

Angry at forting my hand I’d thrown her down on the bed, ravaging her body most brutally and savagely. Punishing her with my body. Or it would’ve been a punishment if the damn woman didn’t enjoy it so damned much. If she wasn’t pregnant before, she definitely was now.
I started stalking out the door wanting to be on the way, when suddenly I slowly backtracked. “Oh yeah Gamm Thom, I forget to give you something.” Then right there before their stunned gazes a large balled fist punched the man right in the face. “The next time I tell you not to start you’ll listen.”
“Daddy?” Layla gasped in horror as she watched the man flip over the coffee table, she raced towards him. Then the girl proceeded to assist my gamma back to his fiat, fawning over the man sheepishly. That is no way to treat your people, let alone one of the few real friends that you have.”
Sara Beth 2.0. She was so her mother’s daughter. Sarah Beth had often said those same things to me, anytime I reacted negatively to a situation. As I had clearly done this morning. I rolled my shoulders. “As my friend, he should know better than to taust me. He should definitely know better than to allow my barely twenty–two–year old daughter to paw him.”

Layla stared me down clearly displeased at the threatening note in my voice when I confronted the man. “I thought meeting your true mate would mellow out that rough side of you, Daddy. It only seems to be worse.”
She was right. These months I was more prickly than I used to be, as if I’d been placed in a constant state of distress. All thanks to Von. Sighing wearily I went to my daughter and took her into my arms. “Be good, Layla, Stay in the house whenever possible and for the love of god do not sneak away from your guards. They’re there to protect you”
“I won’t,” she promised.
Having said our goodbyes, I stalked out the front door of the manor, Von was right behind me. The same clinginess of Lute refused to allow the woman out of my sight, as she seemed to be everywhere. Though she tried to keep away from me, either locked in the room or in the gardens, it never lasted for long. Sighing in exasperation opened the door of the Jaguar, as my Bentley wasn’t an option. Following the wreck, it was brought back, only to be found the axle was bem, frame busted and too expensive to repair. The Jaguar would have to do, Insuring she was buckled in 1 walked around to the other side of the car and climbed in behind the wheel.
Glancing at her curled up in the front passenger seat, my anxiety about her presence only increased. I bore down on her. “Linde one you might have forced your way on this trip, but you will listen. If anything happens then you are to get your ass back to this pack, I don’t fucking care what goes on. If I’m bleeding to death, you will get back here, where you and my child are protected.”
“Im not pregnant yet,” she reminded me.
That’s what she thought. There was no way in hell the woman had escaped implantation after what went on last night. The number of times I’d taken her, the fluid stuffed into her body, some would be ashamed. I wasn’t. “Promise me, Von. It’s the only way you’re going.”
“I promise,” she admitted reluctantly.

Parking the car in front of the packhouse, I climbed out of the vehicle and helped Von get out too. I stared up at the manor that’d always been warm and inviting bus was a shadowy ominous presence I didn’t like.
