BOOK 2: CHAPTER J
Harriette’s POV
Was it a dream? Was it a vision? Was it a nightmare! I wasn’t sure but whatever it was, was happening for the first time.
As soon as my eyes closed and I felt myself slipping into the subconscious, my eyes fluttered open again and I found myself outside the room where we stayed. I looked inside and the first thing I saw was everyone including myself.
What was this? What’s going on? What’s happening to me?
A hard suddenly grabbed me from behind and as I turned, my eyes fluttered open and I gasped loudly.
“Harriette. What’s wrong?”
I held onto Ella’s hand as I took a few seconds to get back to
my senses,
“Fuck!” I cursed under my breath.
“Did you have a nightmare?” Ella asked with a mocking grin on her face

“Shut up,” I spat. Having a nightmare wasn’t something abnormal for regular people or wolves but for me, it was unusual because it was the first time I would be having a dream.

“They’re here. They want us to come out,”
I looked around and realized it was morning already.
“It’s time,” I asked.

We both walked out of the room and met the others waiting. The other girl gave us a stink eye. I raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to say something so I could finally have an excuse to pull her eyes out of their socket. She’d been giving an unnecessary attitude that I decided to ignore all through yesterday.
“Ella and Harriette Adams.”
I looked away from the girl reluctantly. “Yes”
“You’re in. Grab your things”
Ella smiled as she stared at me. I smirked. We didn’t have anything to grab so we stepped aside.
The girl got in but the boy didn’t. I didn’t feel sorry for him though. He should’ve gotten his story straight.
“Follow me all three of you,”
The man commanded. We all followed him
As we walked in through the second gates, I almost tripped. Everything looked so familiar to me. It was as though it wasn’t the first time I would be seeing that place.

Chapter 131
“I feel like I’ve been here before, I informed Ella.
She frowned deeply. “I don’t think we’ve ever been here,”
“That’s the thing. We’ve never been in this place but somehow, it looked familiar to me,”
“Listen, Harriette, don’t bother yourself with something like this. You should focus more on your life,” She cocked her head.
She meant to focus more on my mission. I was the only one who knew the real reason why we were there. It would be better if she didn’t. If I told her, things would get complicated.
The buildings looked different from where we came from. We had just bungalows in our pack while the houses in this rogue pack were tall, magnificent, and really shiny. We lived a conservative life back in our packs and these people lived extravagantly.
An extravagant life is a life of vanity.
“All these things for what exactly?” Ella asked me.
What?
Do you mean the card reader outside that building? The man with us asked.
Ella moved closer to me. That wasn’t what she was asking. She was only curious why the entire pack was living in vanity so much.
“Ah! No!” I quickly answered for her.
Good! You shouldn’t ask questions. All three of you are still on probation and if you don’t successfully pass your probation period, the pack will be forced to banish you if you pass, you take the oath of allegiance to the pack and not the Alpha like other packs do, and became one of us, understood?”
“Yes,” we all chorused.
“Perfect! Let’s keep going. We need to get to the pack office to get things started,”
We kept on walking till we got to the front of a building. Ella and I didn’t say a word after that time she almost slipped. They took us to the fancy building and we were asked to sit down.
The third girl was the first one to be called into an office. When she came out, she had a slip and a key with her.
“Let’s try and not be roommates,” She said with pride and hatred in her voice.
I raised an eyebrow at her then smiled. I didn’t even know her and she was testing my anger management lessons.
“She gets on my last nerves,” Ella complained.
“Me too.”
“Ella Adams, you’re next,”
We both shared a look. We stood up at the same time and walked towards the man who just called her name.
“We’re supposed to go in together. Why has she been called alone?” I inquired.
“You’re sisters, right?” We both nodded. “You cook, you hunt, don’t you?”
Shit! That was where we got it wrong. We should’ve both told them we did the same thing

Chapter 134
“That means, you both won the doing the same duties. Get in and don’t waste too much time.
Ella walked in while looking at me. I nodded, assuring her it was fine.
I went back to sit but not without glaring at the man who just addressed us. He frowned once he saw me glaring but I still didn’t look away.
“Harriette Adams,”
I looked up to see a lady standing in front of me. She was wearing a crop top, pants and a big shirt over the top. She wore a Bandolier across her chest. She was fit and beautiful as well.
Tm Mika. Second in command of this pack,”
I quickly stood up and bowed,
“Nice to meet you, ma’am.”
She smiled. Her smile was stunning. I’d seen pretty girls but I’d never met someone like her. She was so elegant and all of a sudden, vanity things didn’t look bad on her.
I bit down on my tongue as I thought about those words.
“Follow me. I have instructions from the Alpha to bring you along. She explained.
“Mel Alpha?” I pointed at myself.
She ignored my question. “Come along.”
“I need to wait for Ella…my sister,” I explained.!
“You can s
see her later. When the Alpha calls, you have to answer,
I agreed. She was a representative of authority and no matter what, I’m not supposed to defile her orders.
We took the elevator to the first floor of the building
“This is the Alpha’s office, you can walk in all by yourself,” she pointed to a door as soon as we came out of the elevator.
Alone?
I knocked twice on the door and I heard a voice, “Come in,”
My entire body froze. That voice. It wasn’t loud but it echoed in my mind, in my soul, as though it had been waiting there all along, waiting for me. My heart raced, pounding against my ribcage.
As I walked into the room, the face I saw was that of a god. He was stunningly handsome.
But, most importantly, he was the soul I came to take. I was the grim reaper and he was the lost soul.
