Rowan’s POV
I was mostly conscious when Mika found me, I just couldn’t bring myself to stand up. The blow to my head was bad, very bad and it was unexpected.
I’d seen that woman somewhere before but I couldn’t tell where or when. Wherever she came from, she’d better brace herself, because she’d be begging for death–and death would refuse to take her.
When I got to the hospital, I was conscious already. The doctor wanted to stitch my head to aid with the healing but the wound had already closed up and I was fine.
I was just blinded by anger.
“You need to rest, Alpha Rowan, the female doctor advised. I shook my head.
“I’m fine,” I replied through gritted teeth.
“You’re covered in your own blood. It could’ve been more serious than this and I don’t know how you could miraculously heal so fast but it doesn’t even matter. You still have to rest
“I’m not paying you so you could yap my ears out with unnecessary talk.”
“Alpha Rowan,”
I whipped my head towards her. “One more word from you, I’ll claw your eyes out,” I threatened
That got her to shut her little trap
1 picked up my bloodied shirt and wore it like that. My body was a liule sore but it wasn’t something Thorne couldn’t handle.
Thorne, my wolf, had his own good side. It’s just that his bad side overrides the good everytime. He was busy yapping in the head as well, calling me out for being a coward and being too weak.
Only weak people get caught unaware! Real wolves don’t. He spas and I just growled.
As I walked out of the hospital room, Mika was waiting along with several members of the pack. They all looked worried.
“I’m fine. I’m not dead,” I snapped.
1 began walking away from them. Mika met up with me.
“What happened out there, Alpha Rowan?”
She asked.
I grabbed her shoulder. “Mika, I’m okay. Stop sounding as though I’m at the edge of Death’s wall, Goodness! You sound so depressing.”
“You were covered in blood and you were lying there so stiff, I was 30 worried,”
“I was waiting For Thome to heal us, I wasn’t dead. I didn’t lose even lose consciousness,” “Okay, good. Okay. So what happened?” she asked again but with a firmer tone this time.

“Someone bashed my head. A woman precisely but I didn’t see her face clearly. I noticed she had a sear or a dark mark on one side of her face.”
She cocked her head as though she was trying to remember something.
“Does she also have this eerie smile on her face?”
I snapped my fingers. That too. You know her,”
“Harriette drew her once, she answered. “Maybe that was her,”
Harriette! Why would Harriette paint someone like that? What was their connection?
“Speaking of Harriette, it was her who told us where to find you
“Harriette?” I asked with an eyebrow raised. How did she know that? That raised a lot of questions in my head.
If she knew this woman and also knew where I was, that meant, they were probably connected.
Yes, and I think you should talk to her. She’s been worried,”
“How did she know where I was?”
Mika shrugged. “How am I supposed to know that?
She gave me my phone.
“Thanks,”
I dialed Alpha Darius number and immediately. Harriette picked up.
“Is he fine? Is he okay now?” She asked with worry lacing her voice. I’d missed her but could I trust her?
“Commander Mika, please say something,” she begged
“It’s me, Harriette, and yes, I’m okay,”
She took a loud, deep breath and began crying again.
“I’m so sorry, Rowan. I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for any of these to happen,”
I frowned. “What are you apologizing for, Harriette?”
She didn’t give me an answer.
“Harriette,”
I called out but no response. I looked at the phone to see that the call had been dropped.
I dialed the number again but got no response. I tried like five more times and nothing came through. I reached out to the pack directly and got connected to the Alpha’s office. Someone else picked up and told me I’d have to wait a little while to get to talk to Alpha Darius.
“Mika, where are you?” I asked through the mind link
“Gideon and I are trying to check the CCTV cameras to see if we can find anyone or anything suspicious,”
I smirked. “I don’t think you’ll find anything.” I answered based on one reason.
Chapter 187
“What?”
“I’m on my way.”
Soon, I met up with Mika and Gideon in the CCTV room.
“There were two of them. A man and a woman. The man lured the to that place while the woman was there to bash my head in. The man had a weird scent and the woman had no scents whatsoever. It all looked planned. Trust me, they wouldn’t be stupid enough to go near the CCTV. Even if they did, they wouldn’t leave evidence behind,”
I answered as soon as I walked in..
“The CCTV didn’t show anything important but five seconds before two CCTV that could’ve shown us what happened suddenly went black, someone was lurking around,”
“Who?”
“Remember the girl who came in the same night Harriette and Ella did?”
Even though I didn’t remember who the fuck she was, I still answered,” Yeah?”
“That was her.””
“Is there any other solid evidence that she messed with the CCTV I asked because both of them weren’t sounding reasonable at that point.
Harriette warned me about her before she left,”
Mika answered.
Harriette again! Why was she in the center of everything even though she wasn’t here?
A warrior suddenly walked up to us with the girl and announced that she was here. The next thing that happened came like a storm. Not for me anyway but for the girl that came in.
Mika attacked her almost immediately in the most barbaric manner.
“Stop her, Gideon.”
I commanded. Gideon managed to pull Mika off the girl.
“Why did you mess with the CCTV?” Mika
a went straight to hit the nail in the head. Whenever Mika was angry about something, she wouldn’t bother about reasoning, she just got into action immediately.
“I didn’t mess with the CCTV, the girl cried.
“Now, you’re calling me a liar,”
“No! No! Commander Mika. There was this scent around that area that kind of pulled me there. I just had to check if it was it
or not,
Ascent? Could it be the same one I smelled earlier from that man?
“If it was what?” Tasked her
She shook her head as tears leaked out of her eyes.

Mika grabbed the girl’s hair once she saw she wasn’t answering.

“Honey, I’m this close to barging your head to that wall and watching as your brain spills out of the skull, and trust me, you won’t die just yet. It’ll take you four days to die. Now imagine the excruciating pain, the terror, torture,”
Mika threatened with a smile on her face. At moments like that, Mika scares me. How she could say all those things with a straight smile on her face wasn’t as scary as the thought of knowing she would actually carry out her threats.
