He grinned, his eyes sparkling wiri ithief as he poured a glass of wine for me. “Well, I heard someone didn’t get to eat at the Moon Gardem. So, our dinner date still stands,” he said, handing me the glass with a wink.
I laughed, the sound bubbling up from deep within me. “You’re unbelievable,” I said, shaking my head as I took the glass from him.
“Unbelievably charming, you mean,” he corrected, his son widening as he sat down beside me.
I rolled my eyes again, but I couldn’t stop the warmth than spread through my chest. For the first time in what felt like forever, I felt… happy. And as I sat there, surrounded by fairy lights and the man who had somehow become my safe haven, I couldn’t help bou think that maybe, just maybe everything would be okay.

Chapter 30 A Night To Remember
|| Lilac’s POV ||
The night wore on quicker than I had realised. The fairy lights above us twinkled like stars, casting a soft, golden glow over the clearing. The air was filled with the scent of food, shrimp pasta and tiramisu, my absolute favorites. I had no idea how Alaric had found out about my preferences, but the moment he opened the picnic basket and the aroma wafted out, my stomach. growled in anticipation.
“Hungry, dove?” Alaric teased, his voice low and smooth as he handed me a plate. His eyes. sparkled with mischief, and I couldn’t help but blush as I took it from him.
“Starving, I admitted, my cheeks heating up as I dug into the pasta. The first bite was heavenly, the flavors exploding on my tongue. I couldn’t help but let out a small moan of satisfaction, which only made Alaric’s smirk widen.
“You’re adorable when you eat,” he said, his tone playful but his gaze intense. He leaned closer, his eyes dropping to my lips. “You’ve got a little something… right here.” Before I could react, his thumb brushed against the corner of my mouth, wiping away a bit of sauce. But he didn’t stop there. His hand cupped my chin, pulling me closer as he leaned in and licked the spot clean.
My breath hitched, my heart pounding in my chest as his lips lingered for a moment longer than
necessary.
“There,” he murmured, his voice husky. “All clean”
I stared at him, my face burning as I tried to form a coherent response. But all I could manage was a weak, “You’re impossible.”
He chuckled, leaning back with a satisfied grin. “And yet, you can’t seem to get enough of me.”
I rolled my eyes, but the warmth in my chest told me he wasn’t entirely wrong. There was something about Alaric that drew me in, something that made me feel safe and alive in a way I hadn’t felt in a long time. I didn’t know what it was, but I couldn’t deny that I was falling for him, hard.
The tiramisu was next, and I couldn’t help but dive into it with the same enthusiasm. The creamy texture and rich coffee flavor were irresistible, and I must have looked like a pup devouring a treat because Alaric was watching me with an amused expression.
“You’re like a little wolf pup with that dessert,” he said, his voice tinged with laughter. “It’s adorable.”
I stuck my tongue out at him, but my cheeks were burning again. “It’s delicious, okay? Don’t judge me.”
“Oh, I’m not judging.” he said, leaning closer again. “I’m just enjoying the view.”
I swatted his arm playfully, but my heart was racing. The way he looked at me, like I was the only

The night was filled with laughter and easy conversation, the kind that made me forget about all the chaos and pain of the past. And I felt… happy. Truly, genuinely happy. And it was all because
of him.
As the night deepened, the air between us grew heavier, charged with an unspoken tension. We were sitting close, our shoulders brushing, and every time our eyes met, it felt like the world around us faded away. I didn’t know who moved first, but suddenly, his lips were on mine, soft and demanding at the same time.
The kiss was electric, sending shivers down my spine as his hands cupped my face, pulling me closer. I melted into him, my fingers tangling in his hair as I kissed him back with everything I had. It was passionate, intense, and yet there was a tenderness to it that made my chest ache..
When we finally pulled apart, both of us were breathless. His forehead rested against mine, his eyes dark with emotion as he whispered, “You’re incredible, dove?”
I didn’t know what to say, so I just smiled, my heart pounding in my chest. I didn’t know what this was between us, but I knew I didn’t want it to end.
After a moment. Alaric pulled back, his expression softening as he brushed a strand of hair from my face. “Let’s go for a run,” he said, his voice low and inviting.
I froze, my heart skipping a beat.
“No–now?” I said quickly, my voice tinged with panic. I couldn’t shift. My wolf was dormant, and it was a secret I had kept from everyone. No one knew, not my family, not my friends, and certainly not Alaric. Being close to Alaric made her presence a bit stronger, but she was far from fully recovered.
“Yes, now,” Alaric insisted, standing up with a grin. Before I could protest further, he stepped back and shifted. The transformation was seamless, his human form melting away to reveal a massive, midnight–black wolf. He was huge, bigger than any alpha I had ever seen in my past life. His fur was glossy, catching the moonlight in a way that made him look almost otherworldly. His eyes, usually a piercing gray, were now a deep, fiery red with dark orbs that seemed to see straight into my soul.
I couldn’t help but stare, my breath catching in my throat. He was magnificent, powerful, and yet there was a gentleness to him that made my chest ache. I reached out, my fingers brushing against his fur, and he leaned into the touch, a low rumble escaping his throat.
“You’re beautiful,” I whispered, my voice trembling with emotion. I didn’t know if he could understand me in this form, but I hoped he could feel the admiration in my touch.
He nudged my stomach gently, his way of telling me to climb onto his back. I hesitated for a moment, but the look in his eyes, so full of trust and affection, made me relent. He lay down, allowing me to climb onto his back, and then he stood, his movements smooth and controlled
He took me to a river, the water glistening under the silver moonlight. The sound of the flowing water was soothing and the air was filled with the scent of earth and nine Alaric staved into his

“Thank you” I whispered, my voice barely audible over the sound of the river.
He growled solhilly as if he was asking me the reason. I smiled.
“For this,” I said, gestunting to the river, the night, and everything in between. “For making me feel… happy
He didn’t say anything, but smuggled close to him, finding his warmth. And as we sat there, under the moonlight. I realized than I didn’t need to have all the answers. All I needed was this moment, with him.
