Chapter 13 The Revelation
|| Lilac’s POV ||
The room was in chaos.
Kael hesitated for just a second–his jaw clenched, eyes flickering with something like guilt- before he rushed to Coco’s side. He tore off his fancy coat, the kind that probably cost more than most people made in a year, and draped it over her shaking body like she was something fragile, something precious.
“Coco,” he said, voice rough with panic. “What happened? Are you hurt?”
Before she could answer, the doors slammed open. A group of rough–looking men barged in, scanning the room like hunters. One of them pointed straight at Coco.
“There she is!” he barked. “Grab her!”
Gasps rippled through the crowd. Kael moved instantly, stepping between her and them, his whole body tense.
“What the hell is this?” he demanded, voice sharp with authority.
The leader, a scarred brute with a sneer, didn’t even flinch, “that little thief stole from us. We’re taking her back.”
Coco shook her head violently, tears streaking her face, “I didn’t! They’re lying–I was invited!”
“Shut your mouth, mutt,” the man spat. “You think the Alpha King cares about some omega, a lowly bar dancer?”
Kael’s expression darkened.
“You don’t touch her,” he growled. “Walk away. Now.”
The men hesitated, shifting on their feet. But the leader wasn’t backing down.
“She’s nothing. Just some Omega trash. Hand her over. Please don’t bother yourself with her.”
Something in Kael snapped. His voice dropped, low and dangerous.
“You call my MATE trash in my own CASTLE?”
The word mate hit the room like a bomb. The men paled, stumbling back. Without another word, they bolted.
Kael turned back to Coco, his anger melting into something soft, something devoted. He scooped her up like she weighed nothing, cradling her against his chest.
“Are you okay?” he asked his voice gentle
Coco nodded, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t been here.”
I watched the scene unfold, my heart pounding in my chest. This was it. The moment that would change everything. The moment that would set me free. The crowd buzzed with confusion and speculation, their whispers growing louder as they tried to make sense of what was happening.
And that’s when I stepped in.
I stepped forward, my eyes wide and teary, my expression one of hurt and uncertainty. “Kael,” I said, my voice trembling with feigned emotion. “What are you doing?”
He didn’t even look at me.
The crowd was buzzing, whispers exploding like fireworks. Alpha King Darius’s voice cut through the noise. “Kael. GET BACK HERE! NOW.”
But Kael didn’t move. He just held Coco tighter.
I glanced at Luna Cassandra, my eyes meeting hers for the briefest of moments. Her face was pale, her usual composure shattered as she stared at her son. Weren’t you a mastermind to cool down all the situation? Weren’t you the best at turning around the truth? I laughed internally. You made,y life a living hell in the past and now it was a payback time. Let’s see how you fix this situation, I thought, a flicker of satisfaction curling in my chest.
“Kael, son, what are you doing?” Her voice was shaky, her words filled with a mixture of fear and disbelief.
His answer was calm, final. “I can’t abandon her. She’s my mate.”
The room erupted. Gasps, shouts, chairs scraping back–pure pandemonium. I stood there, the perfect picture of a heartbroken fiancée, but inside?
I was laughing inwardly.
Because finally, after all this time, the golden boy had ruined himself. And I didn’t have to lift a finger.
The best part?
This was only the beginning.
The grand hall, once a symbol of unity and celebration, had become a battlefield of emotions. The air was thick with tension, the murmurs of the crowd rising like a storm as they tried to make sense of the scene unfolding before them. Kael stood at the center of it all, Coco cradled in his arms.
Luna Cassandra stepped forward, her voice trembling as she addressed her son. “Kael, this is not the time or place for this,” she said, her tone filled with desperation. Her usually composed demeanor was shattered, her hands trembling as she reached out to him. “Think about what
Kael’s expression hardened, his grip on Coco tightening as if he were afraid she might slip away. “I’ve thought about it,” he said, his voice steady but filled with emotion. “And I can’t deny what I feel. Coco is my mate. My true mate. I won’t abandon her.”
The room fell silent, the weight of his words settling over everyone like a heavy blanket. Alpha King Darius stepped forward, his expression dark with anger.
“Kael, look at Lilac for Goddess’s sake. You two grew up together. How could you hurt her like. this?” The queen tried to put some senses in his head.
His presence was commanding, his voice low and dangerous as he addressed his son. “Kael, you are making a mistake,” he said, his tone sharp and cutting. “This is not how an Alpha behaves. You have a responsibility to this pack, to your future Luna.”
Kael’s eyes flicked to me, his expression filled with conflict. For a moment, I thought he might waver, might reconsider. But then he looked down at Coco, his expression softening as he brushed a strand of hair from her face. “I’m sorry,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But I can’t deny my heart.”
