Chapter 16 Dance Floor
|| Lilac’s POV ||
Elara grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she danced beside me. “See?” she said, her voice filled with glee. “This is exactly what you needed.”
I nodded, a small smile playing on my lips. “You were right,” I said, my voice filled with reluctant amusement. “I did need this.”
We danced for what felt like hours, the music and the alcohol fueling our energy as we lost ourselves in the moment. The world outside the bar ceased to exist, the worries and fears that had been plaguing me fading into the background. But as the night wore on, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched. It was a subtle sensation, like a shadow lingering at the edge of my vision, but it was enough to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
Before I could turn to scan the bar, a pair of strong arms grabbed me from behind, pulling me closer with an almost possessive urgency. My back bumped against a muscular chest, the warmth of his body seeping through the thin fabric of my dress, sending a jolt of heat through me. The scent of pinewoods filled the air, sharp and earthy, and I didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. Alaric. His presence was unmistakable, his aura commanding and intoxicating, like a storm rolling in on a quiet night.
“You’re having quite a night, aren’t you, sister–in–law?” Alaric’s voice rang in my ear.
“You’re having quite a night, aren’t you, sister–in–law?” Alaric’s voice rang in my ear, his tone low and teasing, laced with a dangerous edge that made my pulse quicken. His breath brushed against my neck, warm and minty, sending a shiver cascading down my spine.
I turned to face him, my heart pounding in my chest as I met his piercing grey eyes. They were like storm clouds, swirling with intensity and something darker, something that made my stomach twist in anticipation.
“I’m not your sister–in–law anymore,” I said, my voice steady despite the sudden rush of nerves. A smirk tugged at the corners of my lips, my confidence bolstered by the alcohol coursing through my veins and the way his gaze lingered on me, hungry and unapologetic.
Alaric’s smile widened, his eyes glinting with amusement as he leaned in closer, his body cowering mine. His hand slid to my back, pulling me against him, and I could feel the hard planes of his chest, the heat of his skin burning through the fabric of his shirt. “In that case,” he said, his voice dropping to a whisper, rough and velvety, “if I do this, it won’t be a shame anymore.”
Before I could respond, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming me with a ferocity that stole my breath. His kiss was relentless, his mouth moving against mine with a hunger that left me dizzy. He sucked on my lower lip, tugging gently before deepening the kiss, his tongue sweeping into my mouth with a possessiveness that made my knees weak. The taste of him was intoxicating, a mix of whiskey and something uniquely his, dark, wild, and utterly addictive. His scent enveloped me, the sharp, earthy aroma of pinewoods mingling with the faint musk of his skin, creating a heady combination that made my head spin.
I melted into the kiss, my hands tangling in his hair as I kissed him back with equal fervor. My fingers gripped the soft strands, pulling him closer as if I could erase any space between us. Our tongues intertwined, a heated dance that left me breathless, each stroke sending sparks of electricity shooting through me. I wanted to taste every part of him, to memorize the way his lips felt against mine, the way his breath hitched when I nipped at his lower lip. He responded in kind, his hands sliding down to my waist, gripping me tightly as if he never wanted to let go.
The world around us faded away, the music and the crowd becoming a distant hum as the heat between us grew. His lips were soft yet insistent, his tongue teasing mine in a way that sent waves of pleasure crashing through me. The alcohol in my system only heightened the sensations, the warmth spreading through me like a wildfire, igniting every nerve in my body. I felt alive in a way I hadn’t in years, every touch, every breath, every heartbeat amplified by the intensity of the
moment.
Alaric’s hands roamed over my body, his touch sending shivers of pleasure through me. One hand slid up my back, pressing me closer, while the other traced the curve of my hip, his fingers leaving a trail of fire in their wake. He pulled me even closer, our bodies pressed together in a way that left no space between us. The heat of his skin against mine was almost unbearable, the friction of our movements igniting a fire that threatened to consume us both.
I could feel the hard line of his arousal pressed against me, and a thrill shot through me at the knowledge of how much he wanted me. His breath came in ragged gasps, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he broke the kiss for a moment, only to claim my lips again. His teeth grazed my skin, sending a jolt of pleasure straight to my core, and I couldn’t suppress the soft moan that escaped my lips.
When we finally broke apart, both of us were breathless, our chests rising and falling in sync. Alaric’s eyes were dark with desire, his gaze locked onto mine as he brushed a strand of hair from my face. “You’re full of surprises, dove,” he said, his voice rough with emotion.
I smirked, my confidence returning as I looked up at him.
“I am glad to hear that,” I said, my tone teasing.
Alaric chuckled, the sound low and rich as he leaned in closer. “Dance with me,” he said, his voice a soft command.
I nodded, my heart racing as he took my hand and led me back onto the dance floor. The music had shifted to a slower, more sensual beat, the rhythm pulsing through the air like a heartbeat. Alaric pulled me close, his hands resting on my hips as we began to move together.
The dance was slow and deliberate, our bodies moving in perfect sync as we lost ourselves in the music. Alaric’s touch was electric, his hands leaving a trail of fire wherever they roamed. His lips brushed against my ear as he whispered, “You’re incredible, you know that?”
I shivered, the warmth of his breath sending a thrill through me. “You’re not so bad yourself,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Alaric chuckled, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. “You have no idea what you do to me,” he said, his voice filled with a raw intensity that made my heart race.
