Chapter 9
My engagement party with Liam Kennedy ended perfectly.
The expulsion of Ivy Chen and rejection of the fiancé candidates were minor matters, not enough to shake the business world.
Everyone only knew that the Sinclair and Kennedy families had formed a joyous marriage alliance, joining powerful forces.
As the wedding approached, Liam Kennedy brought another set of haute couture wedding dresses for me to try on.
“From the moment I was brought back to the Kennedy family, I knew there would be a day I could win you over.”

“Since then, I had this wedding dress custom made.”
This surprised me greatly. I only thought we were both wronged true heirs who found solace in each other, and that a strong alliance was the best way for us to be together.
But seeing his actions, I felt something was a bit off about him.
So I asked him: “Liam Kennedy, do you actually truly like me?”
He chuckled: “If I didn’t like you, why would I go to the trouble of finding all that surveillance footage for you?”
He leaned down and asked if I remembered how I stood up for him when we were kids.
I smiled. Of course I remembered. When he was first sold to that small town, he was always bullied by the wild village kids.
But Liam Kennedy wasn’t one to speak up for himself. I couldn’t stand it.
So I dragged him to fight those kids, beating them black and blue, then running away.
“Back then when you pulled me along as we ran, I thought to myself – this girl, I’m going to follow her for life!”
“But later you were taken back to the Sinclair family. Suddenly there was a huge gap between our statuses.”
He sighed, pulling me into his arms. I watched his Adam’s apple bob as he spoke.
He said: “Thankfully, heaven didn’t let me lose you. I was also brought back to the Kennedy family. We’re finally a match.”
Liam Kennedy’s scent enveloped me, and I belatedly realized.
He’s a grown man now too, no longer the skinny boy I used to drag along.
Pressed against his chest, I could feel his overflowing masculine energy, instantly making me blush.
But he cupped my face and asked if I wasn’t feeling well.
! was amused by his contrasting innocence and stood on tiptoe to plant a kiss on his cheek.
Our wedding day arrived as scheduled. Once again I saw Ethan.
After the engagement party, they had moved out of my villa. Since then I no longer paid attention to them.
Ethan, Oliver, and Zach all looked much more haggard.
After Liam Kennedy and I finished toasting and were chatting with relatives and elders, Ethan came over on his own with a glass of wine:
“I also wish Aria and Mr. Kennedy a happy marriage.”
Liam Kennedy frowned: “There’s no need to act so familiar if we’re not close.”
He skillfully blocked the drink for me.
Ethan’s eyes, however, were fixed on me the entire time.
In the past, I would also toast him, wishing him career success and good health, but he ignored me every time.
He would even spill his drink after clinking glasses with me, subtly expressing his disgust.
And I would still block drinks for him at various banquets, always considering his needs.
From now on, there would never be anyone doing these things for him again.

Ethan put on a pained expression.
When he looked up at me again, his face was full of forced smiles, tinged with bitterness and helplessness.
After all, he had once been loved by me that way too.
Later it was he himself who believed Ivy Chen’s words, step by step drifting apart from me.
I avoided Ethan’s gaze, taking Liam Kennedy’s arm.
“Let’s go mingle somewhere else.”
Walking to another area, someone else eagerly approached to toast me.
I was about to return the toast when the person suddenly splashed the wine towards me and swung a knife at me:
“You took everything from me. Go to hell, Aria Sinclair!”
It was actually Ivy Chen!
