Chapter 6
They all froze for a moment, and it was Jarvis who reacted first. He squinted at me, his voice cold as he asked, “What do you mean?”
I curved my lips into a smile, the bright red of my lipstick forming a perfect arc. “I mean divorce.”
At the sound of my words, Gianna’s eyes lit
- up.
Jarvis clearly hadn’t expected me to say divorce, and anger surged in his eyes. “It was just a joke, and you’re taking it seriously?!”
At that moment, the two men quickly tried to smooth things over. “Yeah, Elena, it was just a joke.”

I repeated my word with unwavering resolve. “Divorce.”
His face twisted in frustration as he pointed at me and snapped, “Fine, don’t come crawling back when you regret it!”
The next day, we went to get the divorce papers. It was done swiftly.
Compared to the long and difficult process of getting married, the divorce papers were like a sought–after prize, eager to be handed
over.
As we parted, he barely glanced at me. “Don’t come begging me to remarry in a couple of days.”
In just one day, I moved out of the house we’d shared for three years, leaving without a

second thought.
No one would miss a cage.
I reached out to a friend I’d met while working at a bar and suggested we open one together.
This had always been my dream, but after I got together with Jarvis, he insisted I quit that job. So, I ended up working an office job that was a poor fit for me.
Now that I had left him behind, it was time to pick up my own life again.
The work on the bar was always mine to handle, but as the weather turned cold, I came down with a severe cold.
My friend dragged me to the hospital, insisting she’d watch over for me.

This hospital was the one where Jarvis worked, but I didn’t expect to run into him here he was a cardiologist, and I was just there for a cold.
But fate had a cruel sense of humor, and despite my misery, I ended up crossing paths with that disgusting man.
I was sitting in the chair, waiting for my turn, when Jarvis’s voice came from above.
“What are you here for? I told you not to regret it, but if you beg a little, I might consider giving you another chance.”
I lifted my heavy head and saw Jarvis standing in front of me, arms crossed, a smug grin on his face.
Gianna stood beside him, her face dark with

I didn’t have much energy left, but the sight of them still made me want to laugh with.
anger.
“Jarvis, what exactly are you so confident about? You’re the one who came over to talk to me. Are you sure you can’t let go of me?”
His face turned ashen. He suddenly dropped his arms, glaring at me as he ground his teeth. “Fine, Elena. You’re really something.”
His furious form disappeared from my sight as I shifted my gaze to Gianna, still standing there.
She wore a smug expression, looking down on me as she said, “Know your place. Don’t try to get close to Jar again.”

I stared at her in confusion. Was Jarvis some kind of prized catch? More like a piece of rotting trash.
