Chapter 2
I slept fitfully in the guest room, drifting in and out of consciousness.
Erik, still suffering from a hangover, slept until noon the next day, missing his flight.
His boss scolded him harshly.
Erik, like a submissive servant, nodded and apologized over the phone.
But as soon as the call ended, his face twisted into one of fury.
He turned and unleashed his anger on me.
“Why didn’t you wake me up? Sidney, I told you about my 8 AM flight this morning! You know my business trip is…?”

I interrupted coldly, “What does that have to do with me? Did I make you oversleep? Did I cause you to miss your flight?”
Erik was stunned for a moment, unable to respond.
He walked into the living room and saw the mess, still untouched from the night before.
He began to find fault again.
“How have you not cleaned this yet? Doesn’t it stink? Sidney, don’t think just because you earn a few thousand a month, you can act like royalty at home!”
I felt a knot tightening in my chest, the anger and frustration rising but stuck inside, making me feel suffocated.

But Erik didn’t stop.
“Sidney, listen carefully. Don’t put on airs! Do you think you’re still the goddess everyone admired back then?”
“Look at you now, barefaced and disheveled! What man would even look at you?”
“You’d better listen to me. Don’t think
because of Myles…”
I closed my eyes and threw the towel in my hand down in frustration.
“Erik, that’s enough!”
Erik smirked, a sneer curling at the corner of his lips.
“Don’t like it when I mention Myles?”

He stepped forward, grasping my chin tightly, his gaze cold and cruel.
“After all these years, you still can’t forget him, huh?”
“Forget him? Is he more handsome than me? More wealthy?”
“Or did he satisfy you better…?”
“Slap!”
I could no longer control myself, and my whole body trembled with rage.
Erik glared at me, his tongue running over his cheek where I had struck him.
“Did I hit a sore spot?”
“Before we got married, you lied to me,

saying you and Myles never did anything. But look at this… You think I’m that easy to deceive?”
He sneered disdainfully.
Then, as he passed me, he deliberately brushed against my shoulder, muttering under his breath-
“Filthy bitch.”
My whole body trembled.
I clenched my fists, forcing my voice to remain steady.
“Erik, let‘
get a divorce.”
