He only stopped in a daze when the lawyer I had entrusted approached him.
The lawyer gently placed the divorce agreement down and took out his phone, handing it to James:
“Miss Evans asked me to show you this screenshot.”
James looked at the familiar hacker homepage, his bloodied hands gripping the lawyer tightly:
“She knew? When did she find out?”
“Do you know where she is? Please, I’m begging you, tell me where she is!”
The lawyer sighed, looking at the ruins behind him:
“My condolences. I only rushed over after hearing about the fire.”
“Miss Evans‘ last request to me before she died was this. Please sign here.”
James tore the divorce agreement to shreds and went mad searching for me.
He used all his connections and resources, practically turning the entire city upside down, but there was still no trace of me.
His mother cursed him for being foolish, crying and making a scene, demanding he stop looking for me.
James endured his mother’s pressure and searched for a full three months before reluctantly accepting the news of my death.
Before his mother could happily arrange blind dates for him,
She was angered into the hospital by James‘ announcement that he wanted to bury me with our daughter:
“You already made such a big fuss three years ago for that bad luck charm and her short–lived daughter. What are you trying to do now?!”
Amy was also very dissatisfied:
“James, you already spent so much money buying a burial plot for that little bastard back then. Lily Evans brought this on herself. Just find any place to bury her and be done with it. Why make it so complicated?”
James‘ eyes turned cold:
“You burned Daisy alive. Just because I helped you deal with the evidence, you can forget about it with a clear conscience?““>
“Lily knew the truth about what happened back then. She knew what I did to help you. We’re all murderers who drove her to her death!”
“Amy Potter, why did your happiness have to come at the cost of Lily and Daisy’s lives!”
James‘ mother was shocked watching her eldest son slam the door as he left.
She turned to carefully examine the adopted daughter she had always seen as obedient and sensible, raising her hand to slap her:
“Where have I wronged you that you would ruin both my sons like this!”
James no longer cared about his mother and Amy’s entanglement, focusing all his energy on the funeral.
Touching the few mementos Lily had left behind,
James‘ heart was already numb with pain.
It was only at this point that he realized how perfunctory his care for Lily had been over the years.
The gifts he gave her were far less thoughtful than those he gave Amy.
Yet she was always so happy every time she received a gift.

The assistant hesitated for a long time before reminding him:
“Mr. Potter, it’s almost time to open the grave. You should put Mrs. Potter’s things in the urn.”
Tears fell on the bracelet Lily often wore, only to be hastily wiped away.
James reluctantly put down the bracelet and said softly:
“Let’s open the grave.”
However, when the soil was dug up, the small urn that was supposed to be there was missing.
James rushed over and grabbed the tools, carefully digging and searching through the burial site.
But he still couldn’t find any trace.
After the initial panic, James‘ eyes grew brighter and brighter:
“Lily must have taken Daisy away. She’s still alive. Quick, go find her!”
