Chapter12
Despite the healer’s warnings that his avalanche – torn muscles were still knitting together with the aid of enchanted salves, Frank ripped the glowing bandages from his body.
Enchanted roses, imported from the
werewolf – guarded gardens of the French Alps, carpeted the grounds.
Above, spell – bound fireworks crackled in the sky, ready to burst into a celestial display of Stephnie’s name.
Beta Tudor raised an eyebrow at the spectacle. “Alpha Finn, this looks more like a coronation than a confession,” he quipped, but Frank barely registered the words.

His golden–flecked eyes were fixed on his enchanted wristwatch, the gears ticking down the final seconds to their rendezvous.
As the time passed, then an hour, then two.
He dialed Stephnie’s number again and again. Each call went unanswered, the digital beeps echoing in the empty ballroom.
“Find her,” he snarled at his beta
subordinates.
Ten minutes later, a report materialized on his enchanted tablet: Stephnie currently at the Rhine Beauty Den. Six – hour session including lunar – infused spa.
Frank slammed his fist into the marble railing.
“Members–only, sir-”

Just as his hand touched the ornate door handle, Stephnie’s voice drifted through the cracks.
“Go to that servant’s little show? Please,” she scoffed. “I’d never marry a glorified butler, no matter how many pretty gestures he makes.”
Her friend tittered.
“But he took an avalanche for you! And that tattoo on his chest-” “What of it? A pretty face and a strong back mean nothing next to Alpha Finn’s fortune. Why settle for a lapdog when I can have the alpha of alphas?”
Her voice dropped to a cruel whisper. “Besides, watching Stella’s heart break is the sweetest bonus. Remember how I stole her

Frank’s blood turned to ice.
“And her mother? So easy. A sprinkle of shadowroot in her tea every day, and that weak woman couldn’t take it. Good
riddance.”
A feline screech cut through the confession.
“Get this filthy beast out! I’m allergic to-

a cat, the girl who’d haunted his dreams for three years, collided with Stephnie’s sneering face.
He remembered Stella’s red dresses, her defiance, the way she’d nursed him back from the brink.

And suddenly, the truth crashed over him like a tidal wave.
As his beta whispered, “Alpha, shall we?”
Frank stepped back. “Leave her be.”
Outside, the fireworks erupted as planned, spelling out “Stephnie” in a blaze of magical light.
But Frank was already in his car, cigarette after cigarette burning between his fingers.
The smoke curled around the diamond ring in his pocket.
When the first embers of dawn touched the horizon, he turned to his beta.
