“What?” I was in shock.

Jaxon suddenly snapped, his anger exploding.
“You shouldn’t have even gotten hurt in the first place! This is all your fault!”
“Stop acting like you’re the victim. If you hadn’t run into the street and scared Selena, none of this would’ve happened!”
His voice was sharp, cutting through the room, filled with a rage that made my heart race. He slammed his fist onto the table, knocking the soup over. The hot liquid splashed onto my thigh, searing me painfully.
I curled up instinctively, the scalding heat radiating through me, unsettling both myself and my wolf. I reached for the first aid kit, but Jaxon grabbed my wrist in a tight.

“Selena’s in pain after the surgery, and she needs a doctor with her. Aren’t you supposed to be tough when it comes to pain? Stop pretending to be weak.”
My arm started bleeding again, but before I could say anything, the doctor hurried into the room.
“Miss Knight is having a severe rejection reaction. We need to operate again immediately.”
Jaxon turned to me, his grip tightening on
my arm.
“Come with me,” he ordered coldly, dragging me down the hall.
We entered a room where Selena lay in bed, her eyes glistening with tears, her lips trembling faintly.
At the sight of her, Jaxon’s face softened, his

full of concern–but it wasn’t for me.

“Selena, don’t worry. Nina still has plenty of skin left. If the first surgery didn’t work, we’ll just try again.”
The doctor couldn’t hold it in any longer and cut in firmly, “Mr. Blackwood, that’s not possible. Another transplant could permanently damage your wife’s arm. She may never regain full use of it, let alone play the piano again.”
But Jaxon didn’t hesitate. He pushed me forward, walking resolutely toward the bed.
“It doesn’t matter if she can’t play the piano anymore. Selena can take over as the lead in the orchestra. Nina will stay home, do the laundry, cook, and live comfortably. I’ll take care of her for the rest of her life.”
I couldn’t speak. My whole body was shaking, every word sinking deeper.
To ensure the surgery was “successful,” Jaxon told the doctor to skip the anesthetic.

I felt every cut, every sting of the knife, the pain nearly making me pass out.
As I lay there, drenched in sweat and agony, Jaxon actually patted my shoulder as if he were doing something kind for me.
“I owe you this. Once everything settles down, I’ll come home and be with you more often.”
From behind him, Selena let out a disgusted huff.
With every slice, every scrape, Jaxon immediately turned to her, holding her close, whispering sweet promises. He told her he’d take her to Ravenhold City for a trip, bought her new gifts, and even transferred more money into her account–all of this while I was still lying there, bloodied and in pain on the operating table.
They seemed to have completely forgotten about me!

Just then, my phone rang.

The sound cut through the cold silence in my heart. When I saw the name on the screen, suddenly, the pain in my body felt a little more bearable.
I quickly answered the call, reassuring the person on the other end that I was fine, not wanting to worry anyone.
But as I lifted my head, I found Jaxon staring at me with suspicion.
“Who was that?” he asked.
“Someone from the Blackwood family” I
replied briefly.
Jaxon didn’t seem surprised.
“Don’t tell them anything. I mean it.”
He didn’t ask anything else. In his eyes, I had no friends, no one who could help me.

sever all social ties. No gatherings, no work, no friends. My world shrank until only he and his family remained.
I didn’t want to stay there any longer and watch the two of them act all affectionate. I grabbed my phone, ready to leave the room. But as soon as I stood, a wave of dizziness hit me. My vision blurred, and before I could fall, Jaxon caught me from behind.
He looked down at me, and for the first time, I saw a flicker of something close to concern in his eyes.
“Once you’re feeling better, come with us to Ravenhold City for a vacation. You need to relax.”
“No need,” I murmured.
He furrowed his brow, looking confused.

When I refused, Jaxon got angry and took all my things. He dropped me in an unfamiliar pack, where I didn’t understand their
language. I howled in desperation, but they looked at my wolf like I was an outsider, even trying to drive me away.
A stranger almost tricked me into leaving. If I hadn’t escaped, I might never have made it back. That trip left a scar in my heart that would never heal.
This time, I wouldn’t be fooled again.
Jaxon noticed the cold expression on my face and seemed irritated. He opened his mouth, probably to yell at me, but when he saw my pale face, he hesitated.
He turned his gaze away and, almost gently, said, “You should rest, Nina. When I come

I didn’t respond. I just watched as he walked back to Selena and kissed her forehead. She smiled sweetly, as if she had won everything.
As I stood there, lonely and in pain, I finally understood something.
Jaxon had never loved me. I was just a body, a tool for him to use when he needed it. And now, even my skin belonged to someone else.
Still, the phone call I’d received seemed to mean something more. It appeared that I wasn’t as alone as he wanted me to believe. Maybe… my time as a silent victim was finally coming to an end.
“So, would you bring me the gifts Selena didn’t want?”
