from the explosion rained down around her, sharp metal slicing
Her heartbeat pounded in her ears. Every second that passed was another second closer to losing him
No. No. No.
She forced her arms to move, kicking hard, her vision blurred by water. She dove back down, eyes darting wildly in the darkness. The water was too murky, too black. She couldn’t see.
Where is he?! Her lungs screamed for air. She burst to the surface, gasping, panic clawing at her throat.
“D–DANTE! Her voice cracked a little
No response.
The river was swallowing everything, burning pieces of cars that were hitting the water. He’s here. He has to be here. She thought, and then her heart stopped
A lifeless figure, half–submerged in water, was caught against the rocks near the riverbank.
“Danie” She swa
swam harder toward him.
Her fingers clawed at his body. She desperately holds him while taking him to the shore. His warm blood seeped through his soaked shirt, staining her hands as she pulled him to her.
His body was too heavy for her to lift. But she still tried her best to drag him near the bush. “Dante, wake up!” Her voice broke as she pressed her Trembling hands to his face, his skin ice–cold beneath her touch.
He had a bleeding wound on his head. He must have hit his head on that stone. Her breath came in sharp, uneven gasps. The panic inside her was suffocating her. She pressed her ear against his chest. His heart was still beating. But it was very faint.
“Oh God, no, no, no.”
She immediately gripped his shoulders, shaking him violently. “Husband, wake up! Open your damn eyes! Do you hear me?!”
Nothing.
She bit back a scream, her hands trembling as she cupped his bloodied face. Tears formed in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall” Nothing has happened to you. Dante Romano, Don’t you dare fucking scare me. I swear to God, if you die on me, I’ll bring you back and kill you myself!”
His body was too sull. It felt like he wasn’t even breathing. She softly pulled his head a little. Placing it softly on her lap. She slammed her hands against his chest, but it wasn’t strong enough. She felt like all the energy drained away from her body.” Focus, Elara” She said to herself before trying again. Slammed her hand against his chest. One. Two Three.
“Come on. hubby. Come back to me, please,” She said before pressing her lips to his, giving CPR.

“Breathe, damn it!”
She crushed her hands against his chest, forcing air into his lungs, her pulse hammering so fast it hurt. Her lips trembled as she pressed another breath into him, her heart datering with every second that passed.
“You don’t get to leave me! Husband, do you hear me?! You are mine, Dante Romano! MINE!” She screamed. Tears burned down her face.
“Please please her voice cracked. She leaned down, pressing her forehead to his, her tears slipping down onto his skin. “I will do anything – Just please come back to me, love”
Her hands curled into his soaking shirt, her entire body shaking. She rocked over lüm, desperately.
“I can’t. I can’t live without you. Her body is trembling.” I need you” The words tumbled out before she could stop them.
Her chest heaved as she pulled back, searching his face for any sign of life. The water dripped from his lashes, his skin cold beneath her touch “1 hate you.” She whispered, “I hate you for making me feel this way Saying so, she slapped him hard.

She raised her hand again.
But this time, a strong grip caught her wrist in midair.
Dante’s fingers wrapped around her trembling hand, his grip weak but still firm enough to hold her back.
“What the bell, woman?!” His voice was hoarse, raspy, but laced with something incredulous. Your husband is dying here, and you, fucking psychopaths slapping metr
He coughed, his body shaking from the effort, but that didn’t stop him from glaring at her
“Do you want to kill your husband, woman!!” He practically barked at her, his usual deadly dominance cracked by the sheer frustration of having his wife beat the shit out of him while he was half–dead
A loud, choked sob wrenched from her throat the moment her husband opened his eyes. The wall she had so desperately built to hold herself together shattered into dust.
She
was trembling, fucking trying, to hold herself together, to breathe, to act like the fearless, strong woman she always was. But the second she saw him move, groan breathe..

Dante let out a low, amused chuckle. He groaned, pressing a hand against his wound. Goddamn, it hurt. But watching her like this! His heart did something weird in his chest.

Elara gasped “I should kill you! You reckless, arrogant, stupid-“Her voice broke again, and just like that, her anger melted back into devastation.
“Come here.” His voice dropped, coaxing her.
Elara shook her head aggressively, rubbing her face like a frustrated child. “N–No. I lute you. I hate you so much!”
Dante smirked, raising an eyebrow. That so! Seems to me like you’re madly in love, wife”
“Shut the fuck up” she wailed, smacking his chest, not gently.
Dante winced. “Fucking hell, woman—”

“Wouldn’t dream of it, wife. She broke into another cry

Elara sniffled loudly, still hiccupping. “You’re such an asshole.”
