Chapter 88
Pandora’s mouth opened and then closed several times as she tried to get a grip on her thoughts. “WHAT?” she asked a little louder than she intended. “I know that Mackenna was not pregnant the last time I saw her, surely she hasn’t had a baby that early?”
“Pandora, she’s claiming our boys are Derrik’s,” Benjamin explained softly, but her head shook without her knowledge.
“No way,” she growled. “Why would she think our boys have anything to do with Derrik?”
“I think-” Benjamin stopped and swallowed. “I know they are mine. From what your father, Ron, and Milton have said about Derrik, I know that you wouldn’t take the prick back. Don’t doubt I know they are mine, but I think we should have a DNA test performed just in case he tries to throw us a curveball.”
She pulled back the tears that badly wanted to come from her eyes. “They’re in here; they need us and he’s still doing this shit?” she gritted out in a slightly raised voice.
Benjamin looked around and jumped up, pulling her out of the room.
“I need to be there for them, not looking over my shoulder just in case he’s there with a fucking knife.” Benjamin gave her a sympathetic look but allowed her to keep going with her rant. “I’ve got a restraining order against him, and he’s still fucking with me. Only I can’t prove it, and he’s making it out like he’s the victim. I can’t… I’m done. Done, I tell you, I don’t care anymore.” She took a shuddering breath.
“If Ron wants to kill him, fine because-” she stopped mid–rant as Benjamin pulled her into his chest and hugged him.
He hushed her as she sobbed, letting everything out. All the pent–up anger that she had been holding on to just flowed out. “Baby, it’s gonna be okay. I swear he’s not going to get away with trying to take my boys. I already want to kill him for the pain he has caused you–the pain I have seen in your eyes from the moment we met–again.” Benjamin pulled back and wiped the tears from her eyes, “No more thinking about him. You’ve got me now.”
She sniffed as she nodded at him. Pandora knew they were still a long way from being a happy family, but she knew the odds were in her favor with Benjamin and the boys.
“Thank you,” she whispered to him.
He kissed her lips softly. “This is what husbands do for their wives, my love.”
They went back into the room and sat down with the boys. Earlier, Jack had some tests done. They came back to normal with no problems. Around eleven at night, Benjamin pulled her out of the hospital. He told her that his dad collected her belongings and had already taken them back to his house.
Pandora was surprised to find that Benjamin only lived a short drive from her home. She cringed when they drove by her house, but she felt sorry for the people who moved in there. When they walked to Benjamin’s front door, a familiar motorcycle caught her eye.
“You’ve followed me home?” she muttered and he groaned. She looked at him and he gave her a sheepish look.
‘Come inside and I’ll explain,” he promised. She followed him in and he let out a sigh as they walked up the stairs.
“I was worried about you. I just wanted to make sure you were home safe, and I could easily pass your home on the way to mine.” He stopped and cleared his throat. “You need to see this,” he said and he opened the door.
They were standing outside of a room, and she gasped upon seeing that it was a nursery. “Wow, but…” She looked at him while he stared at the floor.
“After you fell down the stairs, I started to work on this room.” He waved his hand but kept his head down. “I thought you were in danger. I thought he was abusing you or beating you. My plan was to bring you here and show you this room.” He stopped and looked at her. ‘I also decorated a room for you, too. I needed you to be safe,‘ he pleaded with her.
Pandora glanced around the room, and she allowed the tears to run down her face as he walked around looking at everything he had done for her. She walked to Benjamin and wrapped her arms around him.
“This is amazing,” she whispered to him, feeling calm and at home there in his arms. ‘Do you mind if we share, I just don’t think I could relax if I were alone?”
I was hoping you would say that. Come to bed, he replied.
She looked up at him to see he looked calmer than he was a minute ago. “Did you think I was going to run out screaming?”
Benjamin snorted but nodded simultaneously. I swear I wouldn’t hurt you, but I was very close to needing to join a stalker support group. I was worried about you and felt this connection to you and the boys, which even I didn’t understand.”
“We felt connected to you, too, she told him frankly, hoping he knew that she felt it, too.

“When the boys are home, can I take you out on a date?”
She chuckled but nodded at him. “I like the sound of that, but can we go to bed now?”
“We can, Benjamin chirped happily, taking her hand and leading her to their room.
She woke up with her breasts tingling. She felt a damp patch on her top. Sleepily, she glanced down to see that at some point during the night, her breasts leaked. As she sat up, she looked over at Benjamin and saw that he was sound asleep.
Quietly, she moved out of bed and headed to the boys‘ nursery, knowing that was where the breast pump was. Once she had expressed milk from both breasts, she took the milk bottles, labeled them, and placed them in the fridge.
