“Mia are you sure you don’t want to see your fiance before the engagement?” my father hesitated only for me to pacify him.
“Dad the doctor had said that I might lose my ability to have children with passing time. I know you must have selected a good person for me and I am alright with your and mother’s choice. If I encounter any problems this time, I will return to the palace.” my father sighed before embracing me gently.
“My lovely Mia, to me nothing is more important than you, you can choose to break this marriage anytime you want.”
That being said, my secret fiance did not show up on the day of our marriage. registration, instead, a werewolf with a scar on the left side of his face respectfully bowed down to me as he took my ID and acquired the marriage certificate.

“I am sorry Luna, but the Alpha wants to meet you first. He has told me that he wants to give it to you himself.” with that the assistant took away the certificate.
At night the welcome banquet that was meticulously prepared was one of the most extravagant events since the founding of the Empire. Glittering lights glowed on white roses, and only the most important people of the kingdom were invited.
I was standing at the side mingling into the arena like a wallflower, my heart beated erratically with the numerous eyes.
watching me as I recalled how I used to be berated in front of everyone by Xavier’s mother while he stood silently watching the entire fiasco.
“Here, eat this, it will make you feel better.” surprisingly, the very next moment a small blueberry muffin was placed into my hand carefully by Killian. I hesitated before nibbling on it.

“This is your home Mia, if anybody dares to make you feel uncomfortable I will gouge their eyes.” unlike his dangerous threats Killian’s presence beside me was enough to make me secure.

“What about a dance Mia?”
“Thankyou but no, I am not going to fall for your schemes again.” when I turned around Killian embraced me gently from behind making a slight gasp leave my lips.
“Just once Mia. Please.”
“Okay”
It was a miracle how perfectly my cold hands fitted with his warm ones. Our
bodies flowed with the tune of music as a
hush fell on the surroundings.
“You are so beautiful Mia.” when Archduke Killian pulled my body close, the electrifying sparks between us were impossible to deny making me scared.

“Was I not beautiful when you rejected. me?” the music ended and I asked with a lot of grievances accumulated inside me before shaking my head.
It’s better that he stayed out of my life.
If a man like Xavier could push me to such a horrible ending for another female then this man in front of me who was the dream of innumerable werewolf females and my first love might hurt me to the extent of never coming back.
Being with him was impossible.

Among the flurry of excitement, I excused myself from the banquet hall and quietly sat in the palace garden immersed in moonlight.
“You don’t look like a woman thrilled about her engagement” the deep voice interrupted my chaotic chain of thoughts making me turn sharply with rage.
Killian stood tall, his broad shoulders and dangerous aura making him seem more enigmatic.
“Did you know about it?” my voice was barely above a whisper as I looked at him.
“The council didn’t mention that my bride–to–be was so prickly. Or is it because of our pasts?”

“When did I, in this damned world ever once reject you Mia. You were eighteen, a runway princess and I was an Alpha in my prime, do you fucking think that I, a lycan can control his urges just like you can.

“If I am lying, why the hell do you think I am here, leaving behind all differences between our families?! It was your choice to not meet me before confirming the engagement.” my heart thrummed wildly as I could not understand why was he confessing his love to me after so much. had happened.

“We are never breaking up Mia.
Engagement or marriage, why do you think I have not married all these years, I have been waiting for you.

The meaning behind Killian’s words was profound. A union that I always thought was impossible was accepted by my father.
