Chapter 22
As Emma finished the last chapter of her novel, a sense of closure settled in her chest. The male lead, after a long and tumultuous journey, finally left the female lead and returned to his family. The female lead, no longer dependent on him, found happiness with someone else. The two
characters who had been intertwined for so many years had finally walked separate paths, each forging their own happiness.
It was the perfect ending in Maddie’s eyes. -the kind of ending she had always
dreamed of for herself and for the
characters she created. She hoped that, just like the heroine in her story, Rico would find happiness without her.
Emma sat back in her chair, staring at the screen, lost in thought. She had poured so much of herself into this story and now, as she gazed at the last line, she felt both a sense of accomplishment and a twinge of

emotions.
The next morning, she had planned to relax and sleep in her cozy bedroom. But before she could settle in, she was jolted awake by her mother’s voice.
“Maddie, wake up! We’re going to the office!”
Maddie, still half asleep, groaned. “The office? What office? I don‘ t remember having to go anywhere today.”
Her mother entered the room with a wide Badgrin. “You‘ re going to your office, rifsweetheart. Don’t you remember?
You‘ re now the major shareholder of ry Evergreen Media. It’s time to step into e your new role.”
Maddie blinked, the words still not registering. “Wait–what? Evergreen stoMedia?”

in charge now!”
Emma’s mind was still foggy from sleep. “Can’t we do this tomorrow? I’m too tired today.”
Before she could even think about going back to bed, her brother, Emma, was already in the room, pulling her out of bed with surprising strength. “No way, Maddie. We need you at the office today. You‘ ve got to finalize the cast for the new drama that’s starting soon.”
Maddie was still groggy, but her mother wasted no time. She opened the closet, filled with high–end clothes and picked out a sharp, professional dress. She tossed it on the bed with a firm look in her eyes.
“I’m giving you thirty minutes to get ready,” her mom said, her voice full of determination. “The company’s new
drama is about to start and the cast needs
to be finalized. We can’t afford to waste
time.”

Maddie frowned. “But… I don‘ t know how
to pick actors.”
Mrs. Evans didn’t miss a beat. “The scr

is your first novel, Maddie. Who better than you to understand the characters? You know them better than anyone else. Plus, we need you to sign the copyright contract. You‘ re going to get royalties from it, which is a big deal. Are you coming or not?”
Maddie‘ s eyes widened at the mention of the copyright. That was a big deal–a huge deal. She had always envied other authors who had sold their copyrights and now it was finally her turn.
“Okay! Okay! I’ll go!” she said, practically jumping out of bed. “Just wait for me, I’ll be ready in a minute!”
She quickly washed her face, applied a bit of makeup, grabbed a small purse and
headed downstairs.
The aroma of a lavish breakfast greeted her

as she entered the dining room. The kitchen staff had already laid out a spread and Emma and Andrew were sitting at the table, sipping their coffee leisurely.
“Where are mom and dad?” Maddie asked, scanning the room.
“They’re in the neighboring city on a business trip,” Emma replied nonchalantly, “But Andrew and I will be accompanying you to the office today.”
Maddie raised an eyebrow. “Why do I always have to rely on you andrew? Don’t you have
your own work to do?”
Andrew, who was peeling an egg with a methodical precision, looked up at her. “Well, when the company started
developing its own dramas, I invested in it. I have a small stake in Evergreen Media, so it’s only fair that I help out.”
Maddie nodded, taking a sip of soy milk before wiping her mouth. “Got it. But I’m already full, so you two better hurry up!
