Chapter 49
Angela’s POV
A peaceful breakfast was all I asked for, what’s all this dramat
As if it wasn’t enough that Gemini turmed his offer down,
“Are you sure you don’t want to sit closer to me?” Asher asked for the second time, causing everyone to turn to him in disbelief. “Becca, find somewhere else to sit.” He said even before getting a reply from Gemini
“Don’t bother, I’m fine where I am.” And that was Gemini’s reply to Asher.
She wasted no time in filling her mouth with the delicacies on the table to avoid Asher’s persistent act of care.

I rolled my eyes at both her and Asher, their awkward behaviours causing almost everyone to get irritated. But despite my irritation, I couldn’t help but grow concerned. What was wrong with my Asher? He was never this attentive, this caring. And towards Gemini, of all people
Asher, what’s gotten into you?” I asked, trying to keep my tone light.
He didn’t even flinch, his eyes still fixed on Gemini. “What is the problem in trying to be hospitable, Mother?” He asked in a not–so–nice tone
Hospitable! Since when did Asher care about being hospitable? He was always cold, calculating, and detached. But now, he was acting like a lovesick puppy. Did they have a fight or something!
I glanced at Gemini, who was still shovelling food into her mouth. She seemed oblivious to Asher’s behaviour, but I knew better. She was playing him, manipulating him somehow.
I have no idea of the games she wants to play with my son, but my duty was to stop her before she turned Asher into a puppet

Once breakfast was over, I made my way out. Strolling around the garden as I scanned the area for a gray–haired man. I was still taking sight of my surroundings when a hand pulled me into a not–so–secret part of the garden.
“Oh my goodness, you scared me.” I said, my hands on my chest as I tried to catch my breath.
“Apologies your majesty, I just did not want our meeting to be noticed by anyone.” He pleaded with all sincerity.
“I’m fine. Elder Phillips,” I said, composing myself. I appreciate your caution.
“Anyways, I have a favour to ask of you” I said, drifting back to the reason for our meeting,
“Anything for you, Your Majesty,” he replied, his eyes gleaming with a knowing intensity,
“I appreciate what y you
did with the cameras the last time, but you need to make sure that no evidence leaks, no matter how small. We can’t afford to have our plans compromised.”

I paused, studying him for a moment. “And there’s something else. We will be returning home soon, so I won’t be able to do much from where I stand. The future of this pack is in your hands_”
A faint smile played on Elder Phillips lips. “I totally understand what you mean, Your Majesty. And I promise you make sure that unson will never know a moment’s peace”

I narrowed my eyes, sensing something off about his tone. It was almost as if Nevermind. I pushed the thought aside, reminding myself that the elder was just a supporter.
“Good,” I said, my voice firm. Tin counting on you. Elder Philips”
He bowed donussively. “You can always count on me, Your Majesty”
