Chapter 59
Asher’s POV
I sat worried behind my desk, feeling the weight of the past weeks pressing down on me like a heavy cloak. Thirty–five days had passed since Gemini had chosen to remain there in the land of souls, and with each moment that slipped by, my hope seemed to lessen even more.

The Sage’s words echoed in my ears: “You must offer her a reason to return. Otherwise, it’s likely she remains there or even goes as far as opting the afterlife.” His words left me disoriented and I couldn’t help but think back to the day she made a statement similar to this. Her preference for death over a life with me taking a toll on me.
I was completely form in between thoughts, clearly having big time struggles in thinking of what I could possibly provide that would entice her back. The thought gnawed at me, a constant reminder of my helplessness.
“Why can’t you just tell me what she wants?” 1 muttered to my wolf, frustration threatening to overthrow my mind. I rubbed my temples, trying to ease the tension that had settled there. “If only it were that simple…” I whispered to myself, knowing that I was willing to give anything at this point.
Suddenly, the sound of heavy footsteps broke my reverie. “Enter!” I said, recognising the voice of the fellow behind the door.
The door creaked open, revealing Alan. “Your Majesty, the Elders are waiting for you,” he announced, his voice steady and commanding
straightened, forcing myself to mask the turmoil within. “I’ll be right there.” I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the meeting ahead. The Elders had been growing increasingly concerned about Gemini’s absence, and their questions would likely be relentless

As I entered the board room, the atmosphere was thick with tension. The twelve Elders sat in a semicircle, their expressions grave. A table graced the center of the room and was occupied by their notepads, tabs and bottles of water.
“Your Majesty,” Elder Ruby, one of the two female elders began, her voice soft but firm. “We need to discuss the way forward. It’s been thirty–five days, and there are no signs of recovery from Lady Gemini. The Kingdom is restless.”
Elder Karl, a burly man with a booming voice, leaned forward. “Yes, your majesty. We need to know if there’s any way we can help”
I nodded, feeling the weight of their gaze upon me. “I appreciate everyone’s concern, but I got things under control”
They exchanged unsure glances but no–one dared to say another word about the subject. We discussed various other things and soon we were out of topics.
1 looked back at my wrist watch. “The meeting with the joint investors would be starting soon. So, if there is no other thing. I would be taking my leave now.”
I made my way to my room once we were done, picked a few things and headed out. “What is the schedule like?” I said to Alan as soon as we boarded the vehicle.
Alan in turn took out the tab and began to scroll, “The introduction mecting and dinner would kick start by 5 pm to terminate in an hour or two. Then the next one on the list would be at 7 am tomorrow, where the main outline would be discussed. The investors are optimistic about this joint venture, Your Majesty, Alan continued, his eyes still scanning the schedule on the isb. “They’re willing to invest over three hundred million and in exchange for their substantial investment, the technology company is seeking a significant equity stake in our kingdom’s technological assets. This could involve granting them ownersdaiji interests in state–owned tech enterprises, exclusive rights to develop and manage certain technological infrastructures, or a combination thereof. Such an arrangement would provide them with a meaningful share in our kingdom’s technological
dvancements and future profits.
I nodded, my mind already racing with the calculations of where the deal might be headed. “And what’s the expected outcome of these meetings!”
Alan looked up from the tab. “If all goes well, we can expect a signed agreement by the end of tomorrow, securing the joint investment and paving the way for our kingdom’s economic growth. With this, we would certainly top in the technological field which is the highest growing sector in the present day.”
“Hmm”
I leaned back in my seat, my thoughts weighing the offer. I didn’t get the chance to review the whole thing earlier because of my busy schedule. Nut now, hearing the death of the agreement. I realised that it didn’t quite sit well with me
Alan urned, attentive to my med. “Is there a problem, your majesty?”
let out a small sigh. “This could just be us selling ourselves to them, having little to no access to our technologies much later in the future.”
Alam brows furrowed thoughtfully, “I didn’t think of it that way,” he admitted. “Anyways, I think it’s worth exploring the opportunity. We can always decline the offer if it doesn’t meet our expectations. Since we haven’t seen the full details of the agreement yet, let’s he
