Chapter 68
her’s POV
“Fuck!” I yelled, the pain radiating through my body as the doctor struggled to remove the stick that had pierced me from back to front.
Gemini stood frozen, her face pale, like she’d just seen a ghost. Her eyes were wide, mouth agape, as she watched the doctor wrestle with the stick embedded in my side. I could see the pain in her eyes, and it made my heart ache more than the injury itself
be both of us
Of course, she could feel a snippet of what I was feeling and I couldn’t wait to put an end to the torture, for the both
“You shouldn’t be here, I urged, my voice strained. “Leave!” I ordered.
But I knew she wouldn’t leave, even if she did, she would hang around, rather than go far. She hesitated before turning towards the door, she stood by the door for a couple of minutes, making no further movement.
“Gemini!” I called as if to remind her of my order. I watched her back as she reluctantly stepped out
The chaos with the rogues had unfolded too quickly and all so unexpected, taking the lives of about ten percent of our warriors. I could still hear the echoes of the battle in my mind, the shouts and the chans
Frustration clawed at my insides as the doctor fumbled around, taking too long for my liking. 7 something. I placed my hand on the stick, pulling it out before the doctor could protest.
“Fuck roared, the sound reverberating gof the walls as the pain shot through me.
The pain was becoming unbearable, and I had to do
Doctor Nathan quickly pressed his hand against the wound, applying pressure to reduce the blood flow. Stay still, Your Majesty,” he said, his voice firm. He wrapped the injury with a bandage and handed me some medications before making his exit.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Gemini rushed back in, her expression filled with worry. “You’re in so much pain,” she murmured, stating the obvious. “Is there anything I can do to help?” She perched on the edge of the bed, her eyes searching mine.
“I need to take those drugs.” I replied, nodding toward the small cup of pills on the bedside table.
“Okay, I’ll get you some water,” she said, jumping up. Her movements were quick, almost frantic, as she grabbed a glass cup. She noticed that the pitcher on the table was empty so she hurried out to get it refilled.
“Your majesty.” A recognisable voice called from behind the door, accompanied by a soft knock
“Come in!”
Eder Philips and Rex (the head of the disciplinary section of the army) stepped in, their faces filled with concern. “I’m so sorry that you have to go through so much pain because of our infidelity, your majesty” Elder Phillipssaid.
“I would personally make sure to see that our security is tightened with no possibility of infiltration.”
1 scoffed at his comment, displeasure written over me. “Whether there be a tightened security or not, if we don’t find the insiders, involved in this the possibilities of such situations occuring again is very high”
“I promise you, Your Majesty, we are working on that,” Red said, stepping forward.
I rolled my eyes at him in anger, rage threatening to burst through me. “Working you say? For the past few months, the pack has been in disarray and no one seems to know who is behind all of this. Until you make progress with your findings, I can’t be sure of the fact that you are working”
Gemini hurried back in, the refilled pitcher in one hand and an almost filled glass in the other. She set the pitcher down and hurried towards me
“Excuse me,” she muttered, brushing past Hex to get to me. “Here you go,” she said, bringing the cup closer. But as she reached out, our hands brushed against each other, and I felt a jolt of electricity puss between us
In that split second, her grip faltered. The cup slipped from her hogers, and water splashed everywhere, drenching the floor. I opened my mouth i scream at her carelessness, but then I noticed her eyes rolling back, her body swaying slightly as she started to tilt toward the floor.
“Gemini!” I shouted panic Blooding my system. I reached out, my heart racing as I lunged forwand, catching her just before she hit the ground: 1 could erqually see the urgency in Rex and Elder Phillips eyes as they tried to support Gemini as well.
“What the hell just happened?” I asked, my voice low and frantic. I could feel her pailse quickening beneath my fingers, and the worry prawed at
She blinked rapidly, trying to shake off whatever just overwhelmed her. Her eyes flashed across Elder Phillips and Hes. ““1 – [think I just got durry?

she stuttered, her voice shaky. “I didn’t mean to drop the water.”
“Dizzy” You scared the hell out of me?” I replied, my tone softening as I helped her sit back up. “You need to be careful.”
*I’m fine, really,” she insisted, brushing off my concern, but I could see the tremor in her hands. “Let’s just clean this « up.”
No.” I said firmly, locking eyes with her. “You need to sit down and make sure you are fine first.”
The looks in her eye
eyes were totally different from what she said it was. Instead of dizziness, it seemed like fear had suddenly enveloped her.
“You’re fine. Gemini” I assured her, but I couldn’t help but notice the pounding of her chest. The pace of her heartbeat was on the increase. It almost seemed like there was something more to that moment than I could see.
Her eyes struggled between both men once more. “I have to go now,” she stuttered, turning abruptly towards the door
My curiosity piqued, “Gemini- she stormed off before I could say another word.
My eyes narrowed and my gaze remained on the door, worry filling me. What could be wrong with her?
