Chapter 79
Gemini’s POV
“And you, you’re also to blame for this.” Asher snapped in my direction, his voice low and intimidating. “If you hadn’t wasted so much time, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”

I felt the need to defend myself, but before I could respond, Asher turned on his heel, brushing past Israel who wore a satisfied look as he watched Asher’s misery. I tagged along Asher though confused about his next move. Was he finally going to drop the fake accidental meeting and approach the CEO head–on?
We didn’t follow too closely to avoid raising suspicions in the heart of the guards, but we did our best to make sure we didn’t lose track of him. As soon as we got outside, the sound of a revolving engine filled the parking space, followed by the blinding yellow lights. Asher hopped into his car as well, urging the driver to follow the CEO’s car whilst maintaining a good distance.
I let out a heavy sigh which gave out the frustration that was already bubbling up within me. The sigh seemed to awaken a certain amount of anger in Asher, making him turn to me, with a threatening look. Does he still think this is my fault? I scoffed at the thought of him holding grudges against me.
His intense gaze almost forced me to melt into my side of the chair.
“Increase your speed,” Asher ordered, his patience on the edge as he watched the road ahead.
After a measurable amount of silence and awkwardness, I finally got the boldness to ask.“Why can’t we just meet with him normally?” I questioned, curiosity getting the better of me.
Asher’s gaze flicked to me, his expression dismissive. “You don’t understand how these things work, Gemini. These men are busy, they don’t have time for meetings and pitches. We need to catch him off guard, and make it seem like a coincidence so he doesn’t go around thinking you stalked him.”
“But you actually did,” I said inaudibly.
I totally understood what Asher had just said, but that didn’t mean it was fine by me. But then, what right do I have to complain about it?
“Sir, the car ahead just pulled into that hotel ahead.” The driver informed.
apply the brake almost quickly.
I held onto my Chest at the unexpected action, “Do you have plans to get us killed?” I complained, trying to relieve my mind of that moment that almost caused me a panic attack.
Asher’s gaze remained focused ahead. “I need you to stop here!” Asher’s command caused the driver to
Still, in the spirit of not getting caught, we settled in the car for a while, long enough to let the CEO settle in. Moments later, we strolled into the hotel, but not before Asher put calls through to his informants inside to keep him updated.
In all of this, I couldn’t help but wonder why a man as powerful as Asher was so desperate to get a collaboration with this tech guy’s company. I know they had a mad reputation, but shouldn’t he have his way around all of this? Just then did the realisation hit me… There are levels to this thing, there is no man who is in control of everything and has it all at his fingertips.
We approached the front desk where a lady with a fine smile and a perfectly ironed uniform stood. “Welcome to—”
“We need a reservation!” Asher said, cutting off the receptionist.
The receptionist maintained a professional demeanour, though an apologetic look replaced the smile she had earlier on as she scrolled through the system. “I’m sorry, but we’re fully booked.”
“What do you mean fully booked?” Asher snapped, his frustration threatening to surface. “I’ll pay double! Just get us a room!”
“I’m really sorry, sir,” she repeated, her voice steady but firm. “There’s no available room.”
Asher ran a hand through his hair, visibly agitated. “This can’t be happening!” He turned to me, his eyes wild with frustration.
I couldn’t even explain how I felt about this, but I knew I had no plans to remain here. I was already very late and I couldn’t just wait to collapse into bed.
“There must be another hotel nearby,” I suggested, trying to keep my voice calm.

Asher nodded sharply, though still fuming. “Let’s go. Find the nearest one.”
After a few minutes, we found another hotel, “One room available,” the receptionist informed me, causing a sigh to escape my lips,
Asher glanced at me, and I could see the gears turning in his mind. “We’ll take it,” he said, his voice clipped.
“Are you sure?” I asked hesitantly.
Without a reply, he took the keys and strolled off.
Once we were in the room, the tension reached its peak. Asher began pacing, his hands clenching into fists. “This is ridiculous! Israel” He slammed his palm against the wall, causing a picture frame to rattle.
How many other things were smashed, drawing the attention of the hotel management? But he paid them off and demanded to be left alone. I watched him, my heart aching for him. I could see the frustration boiling over, and I wanted to help him, despite the fact that it was never my wish to do this, I just didn’t like how miserable this project had made him.
“Israel is going to pay for this, he snarled, his eyes blazing with anger.
I watched in awe as Asher began to wreck the hotel room, his anger and frustration boiling over, I knew I had to do something, but what?
After Asher had slept, I spent the rest few minutes pacing and thinking about what to be done, anything to just get myself back to the less awkward moments in the palace.
“Fuck! How did I not think of this!” I exclaimed, almost too loud to wake up Asher.
