Chapter 81
Becca’s POV

I held onto the prison bars feeling mad resentment towards Asher, Gemini and every fucking body involved in this shit. I couldn’t tell how wrongly I was playing my game, but I knew I was in deep shit when this Gemini girl just resurrected out of nowhere. What sort of witchcraft is this?
I sure had underestimated her and her stupid innocent face.
The frustration I felt at this moment was worse than anything I had ever felt. The damp air of the dungeon clung to my skin like a second layer, clothed with a heavy and suffocating feeling. My heart more hardened than ever…
I couldn’t just wait to get out of this shit hole…

I can’t even tell how long I’ve been here, but it’s felt like forever. The worst thing I had ever had to imagine while in here was what my perfect look had turned into, thanks to not having to bathe or even carry out any self–care activity. This place felt like a place for rags, a place for people like Gemini and not me. The smell of mildew and decay was overwhelming, and the sound of water dripping somewhere in the darkness echoed like a taunt. It was creepy as hell and I could feel things walk around the damp space, their movements causing fear to overwhelm me. This wasn’t the life I was used to, this was never what I imagined when I returned here to get
ny plans back in place.
Angela was right, I should have covered my tracks better than I did. But who would have known that Gemini would rise up from the dead? I mean what kind of a person is she? A goddess or what?
“A Born Warrior wolf,” I recalled, but what does that even mean? What powers does that entail?
I can’t let her have the last laugh, I can’t let her win. I have tried once, and I would try over and over again. I Becca Martell would never give up until I breathed my last. And if I survive this dungeon, that means bye–bye Gemini.
I just can’t wait to get the heck out of this place…
The sound of a metallic substance being dragged on the floor was heard through the dungeon, causing me to jolt out of my deadly thoughts. It was almost deafening, I plugged my hands into my ears to reduce the unpleasant sound. A feeling of fear lingered in my chest as my mind began to flip through thoughts of what could possibly be happening.
Could that be Asher finally being ready to torture me after dumping me here for days?
Suddenly, the figure paused outside my cell, the flickering torchlight made it quite difficult to see who it was, but it was undoubtedly the figure of a female. She leaned against the cold iron bars, staring at me, who had out of fear retreated into a corner of my cell. My body was trembling as if I were caught in a nightmare. I couldn’t help but notice the satisfied looks on her face as the lights flickered across her face.
“Did you really think I’d just let you go?” she whispered, her voice dripping with mockery. I didn’t realise how scared I was until I began to flinch at every little move she made. “Hello, Becca?” The voice called out, confirming the thoughts in my mind.
“Gemini!” I blurted out.
I shot up, eyes wide with fear, my chest heaving as I struggled to catch my breath. “Gemini! What are you doing here?” My voice cracked, and the desperation in it was almost pitiful.
Gemini chuckled softly, stepping closer to the bars. “Nothing much, I just wanted to make sure you lie in the bed you laid,” Gemini said, holding up a red–hot iron rod, watching as the flames danced along its length, the heat radiating from it like a warning.
“This is just a little reminder of what happens when you mess with me.” Gemini’s eyes seemed to bore into my soul, and I could feel my heart racing with fear.
I pressed my back against the wall, trying to make myself as small as possible. “You’re insane!”
“Insane? Maybe. But I’m not the one who tried to kill someone,” Gemini shot back, her voice low and dangerous.
I could see the anger welling up beneath Gemini’s calm exterior, and it made me tremble with fear. With a devilish smile, she drew out a bunch of keys, slowly and carefully testing them into the hole of my cell. It was all a deliberate act to keep me in anticipation of her attack, to keep me on the edge, to scare the hell out of me. And fuck it was working.

Chapter 81
Finally, I heard the sound, the sound of my cell room being unlocked.
“Oh!” She said, an innocent smile playing across her face as she lifted the key. “This was it the whole time.” She joked, her laugh erupting in the place.
Almost like a psychopath, her expression changed the next minute as she began to make her way into my cell, her intense gaze locking me in place.
“What… What do you think you are doing, Gemini?” I stuttered.
“You know, I heard you forged death once. Quite the dramatic flair. Did you really think Asher would care? He’s moved on, Becca. You’re just a ghost haunting his past.”
Gemini’s words cut deep, and for a moment, I felt a pang of pain and regret.
“You thought I forgot, didn’t you? That I’d just wipe the slate clean and pretend like you didn’t try to end my life? How naive.”
I felt tears pricking at the corners of my eyes as Gemini stepped closer, the iron rod another source of light in the dimly lit dungeon.
I tried to muster the courage to fight, but I was scared to my bones, there was something about her gaze that crippled me and I couldn’t help help but remain at her mercy, fear gripping my every being.
She raised the rod over me with all her might, ready to slice me in two halves. I let out a cry. “Nooo!”
And in that moment, my eyes fell open, open to reality. And instead of Gemini, the worried face of Elder Phillips frowned over me.
“Dad!” I cried, grabbing him with my last strength.
