Chapter 97

Angela’s POV

How did it go?I asked, watching how Andrew furiously made his way into the room

Ever since he returned from Asher’s pack, he had been extremely moody, but I didn’t want to leave him to his moodiness, I wanted him to let out whatever it was that was bothering him

Andrew?I called, grabbing him from behind. It’s not the end of the world, there’s always a way out,” I said despite being oblivious to the reason for his anger

What way?He said, peeling my hand off of him, almost too fast and carelessly. Angela, please let me be. I need to think.”

The last time I left you alone in a situation like this, you went ahead to do something unreasonable. I can’t afford to let you hurt yourself again.I said, concern clouding my judgement

I watched Andrew pace the room, his frustration was evident. The walls seemed to close in around us, the heaviness of his unsaid words clouding the room. As I thought about what could have caused him to appear so troubled, my heart broke

Andrew,I said softly, hoping to break through his stormy thoughts. What happened with Asher?”

He stopped, turning to face me, his eyes dark and filled with anger that he could barely contain. I just don’t know what to do with that boy named Asher. He just never listens. It’s almost as if I and my opinions are trash to him.”

I took a step closer to him, my hands reaching out to calm him down once again. Andrew, that’s not true. Asher respects you-this certainly wasn’t the first time I’ve had to state this fact to Andrew and I’m sure it wouldn’t be the last either

No, he doesn’t,Andrew interrupted, his voice rising. If he did, he would listen to me. He would take my advice. But no, knows better. He always thinks he’s right.”

he always

I tried to rub my mind with him, tried to think of something that would benefit both packs and help us grow, but he just wouldn’t listen. Rather, he just sits there, acting like he’s above all these problems.”

I sighed, trying to reason with him. Andrew, you know Asher. He’s stubborn, but he’s also a good leader. Maybe he’s just trying to do what’s best for both Kingdoms.”

Andrew’s expression turned bitter. You don’t get it, Angela. You never do. You’re always so blinded by your love for him that you don’t even know what is right and what is wrong anymore.”

My heart stung at his words, but I tried to keep my cool. Andrew, that’s not true. I always try to remain unbiased with both of you.”

Unbiased?Andrew’s laugh was harsh. You want to be unbiased? Talk to your son. He’s the one who’s going to destroy everything we’ve worked for.”

My eyes widened in alarm. Andrew, don’t say that. He’s our son.”

Andrew’s expression turned cold, his eyes glinting with a kind of fury I’d never with sarcasm

seen

before. Our son?he repeated, his voice dripping

might not be your direct son, but you’re still

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized what Andrew was implying. Andrew, related. You’re still family.”

Andrew’s laughter was like a slap in the face. Family? Do you call this family? This is a joke, Angela. A sick, twisted joke.”

I took a deep breath, trying to keep my emotions in check. Nothing about this is a joke. You and Asher are a family whether you like it or not. And in fact, you two have a lot in common, if only you would sit down and talk things through.”

Asher isn’t, and will never be anything like me. Andrew slammed back unreasonably. And If not for the Council of the Moon goddess, I would have never agreed for him to be King of the South

Investing in him is the worst mistake I ever made.”

Fury surged through me but I struggled to keep it in check. Look how you are judging him like your son is any better? What kind of a Prince forsakes his princely duties to run after a silly passion for art?I asked, anger seething through me

Chapter 97

I was done letting Andrew speak ill of Asher every single time. I can’t lie about the fact that Asher had his comma’s, but Andrew was always one to pick on Asher’s fault alone. It was almost as if all Asher did was wrong in his eyes and that’s the reason Asher hates to be around him

Don’t you dare bring Cain into this!He warned, pointing his slim finger at me

Why? Are you scared to admit the fact that even your blood doesn’t listen to you?Andrew’s face squeezed even more. Andrew you are such a difficult person and if you continue like this, I promise you would loose everyone and everything.”

A very loud laugh resounded through the room, a testament to the fact that Andrew thought I was being delusional. But no- from being delusional and soon it would all be clear to him

I was far

The laugh continued, making me feel extremely stupid. What did I do to myself?I muttered more to myself. How did I fall for someone as unreasonable as you?My unexpected question seemed to put a pause to his crazy laughter

What did you just say, Angela? He said, his gaze boring into my soul

I remained defiant, letting out the words which had been something I secretly said to myself up until today. If you had not deceived me into believing your false promises, I would still be living happily with Benjamin and he certainly wouldn’t be dead by now.”

So

So now are you blaming me for my brother’s death?Andrew shot back, his eyes raging with anger

I have no idea what you did, but I’m sure you have something to do with his death-I said, almost too sure of my claim

How dare you accuse me of committing such a despicable act?”
