I calmly and deliberately uttered each word as if driving sharp knives into his heart. “Back then, you’d stayed by her bedside for three days and three nights straight.”
I finally saw the pain on his face, but it wasn’t as satisfying as I had imagined. I was utterly drained and only wanted to get away from him as fast as I could.
Julian’s face turned ashen and he fell to his knees before me. “Scarlett, I’m begging you. Please, just give me one more chance.”
“I’ll work hard. I’ll make up for everything. I’ll give you the grand wedding you deserve. We can have another child and
live a happy life together. Isn’t that what you want?”
He looked at me with those deep, soulful eyes that I used to find irresistible. These eyes were slightly teary and red, but I felt nothing–not sympathy. Instead, it made

my stomach churn with disgust.
He bent forward pleadingly, but his desperation didn’t stir me.
“Julian, we’re completely done. To be honest, this should’ve ended long ago–like every time you ignored how I felt.” I shook my head and walked away without looking back.
A few days later, I got a message from a friend in Jorway. “Have you seen the video going around online?”
She immediately forwarded it to me. Julian and Anne were the two figures that appeared once I clicked on the video.
They were standing in a stairwell. After briefly exchanging words, Julian’s face darkened as he grabbed Anne by the neck. Her tears ran down his hand, but the man
who once cherished her like a treasure now looked utterly deranged.
Julian released his grasp only when Anne began to choke and roll her eyes back, but

he quickly seized her arm again and slammed her against the wall. Blood was all over Anne’s face and forehead as she
struggled to escape on the ground before Julian captured her again.
As they struggled, Anne lost her footing and tumbled down the stairs.
Only then did their group of friends rush over. Most owed Julian money, so they didn’t dare confront him directly. Instead, they hurried to pick up the unconscious Anne.
I felt no pity–just an uncontrollable urge to laugh coldly. Julian used to treat her like she was the most precious thing in his life and now it’s come to this. They only had themselves to blame.
Because this group of friends had shielded Anne for so long, she had gotten used to it. Her hidden malice hurt me more than
anyone else whenever she came to my
house.

They would gang up on me and criticize me whenever I tried to explain myself. Sadly, Julian would lower his head and ignore my desperate gaze as I looked to him for help. He’d even join in sometimes, making me apologize because Anne shed a tear.
Before Julian could see me one last time, he was arrested and taken into custody, awaiting his trial.
As for Anne, her injuries were severe. The fall left her with a leg injury so bad that walking would be difficult for the rest of her life. Naturally, she refused to settle.
The once innocent and pure girl looked terrifyingly distorted during the interview as she demanded, “I want him to rot in prison!”
However, she couldn’t afford a lawsuit. Julian had paid for all her previous medical
bills.
Online gossip spread rapidly and Julian quickly found himself in the hot seat.
