Chapter 9
I used to think their friendship was unbreakable, but it was all built on Julian’s money. It all crumbled into nothing the moment a gust of wind blew.
Time flew by and before I knew it, the end of the year was here. The project team I led exceeded all expectations and everyone got well–deserved bonuses.
At the company’s annual meeting, the vice president invited me on stage to give a speech and motivate the team. I stood. alone on the stage, bathed in the soft glow of the flickering lights and the clinking of glasses. The crowd of colleagues below cheered and applauded, their faces beaming with warmth.

Now, I’d found my purpose and direction in life.
My eyes are welling up as I pick up the microphone. “Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I will work even harder in the future and strive to bring more benefits to the company.”
From now on, I’ll shine for myself. May I grow strong like the evergreen pines, standing tall no matter what.
Later, the company’s car dropped me off at my apartment building. I took my time strolling home, reflecting on everything that had happened in the past six months.
It was late at night. The streets were empty, with few people coming and going. Suddenly, I felt a cool breeze on my cheek and looked up.
The sky was dark and the night wind carried fine snow from the heavens. A
gentle chill swept over me as the
snowflakes danced merrily in the breeze.

The first snow had finally arrived.
I smiled to myself, feeling my steps grow lighter. With hope as my guiding star, I truly believed my life would improve.
I would turn my faith into the courage I needed to chase my dreams, crafting a dazzling narrative where I was the heroine of my destiny.
