Chapter 14 Getting Him All Worked Up
Draven stared at the ten brightly colored Level–One Beast Crystals, his eyes widening in shock.
“A–Are these for me?”
Even though he was a Level–One Beasthuman, his wood–type talent was the weakest among them. His powers were limited to hastening the ripening of fruit and manipulating weeds and vines.
If it were up to him, he probably would have never obtained so many beast crystals in his entire life!
“Of course. I’m asking for your help; it wouldn’t be right to let you go back empty–handed,” Karina said with a smile, as if it were only natural.
Zareth was her family now–her only beast husband. Draven was good to Zareth, so naturally, she wouldn’t treat Draven unfairly.
“Ah, I couldn’t possibly accept this. Beast crystals are far too valuable. I’m just giving someone a ride, that’s all. I was heading to the trade caravan anyway, so it’s no trouble…”
Now, it was actually Draven who felt somewhat embarrassed. He hesitated, but Zareth promptly pushed the beast crystals into his arms.
“Take it. In our home, Rina calls the shots.”
Feeling the cool weight of the beast crystals in his hands, Draven was on the verge of tears. With these, he could finally seek a worthy female mate!
Bang!
Overcome with emotion, Draven slammed the table, jumped to his feet, and gestured passionately toward Karina. “Karina, from now on, you’re like a sister to me!”
“Before, I used to badmouth you to Zareth all the time. I apologize for that. I was biased, and I was wrong.” As he spoke, he even raised his hand and slapped himself.
Karina frowned, watching him, and subtly signaled to Zareth with her eyes. Zareth caught his arm, stopping him. Only then did Draven relent, raising three fingers and declaring loudly. “Karina, don’t worry, I will definitely bring Corvus back safe and sound!”
After finishing his meal, Draven rushed home to prepare.
That night, after bathing, Karina returned to her bed.
Zareth had just finished washing the dishes when he stepped into the room–only to be caught by a soft, small hand that latched onto his waistband and pulled him onto the bed.
The delicate young beastwoman had him pinned beneath her, her sweet scent lingering at the tip

Leaning in, she whispered into his ear, her breath warm against his skin. “Today, let’s absorb some beast crystals together…
Before she could continue, strong arms suddenly scooped her up and placed her gently back on the bed. A beast skin was draped over her head, covering her completely
Zareth handed her the beast crystal, then turned his back to her, sitting upright, radiating self- restraint. “Not tonight. You’ll have to absorb it on your own.”
Karina was stunned.
He rejected me? Am I really that unappealing?
“Don’t you want to?”
For ten days, she had devoted herself to honing her talents. She hadn’t absorbed any beast crystals during that time, worried that taking in too many without practice would be dangerous.
Every night, they slept beside each other, but that was as far as things went.
Isn’t it said that men, once they got a taste, would be like starving wolves? Why is he acting differently?
Seeing Karina’s wide, round eyes brimming with confusion and injustice, Zareth felt his self- control waver. The barriers he had so carefully built nearly collapsed.
“You’re carrying a pup now. We can’t… risk hurting the baby,” he said, voice hoarse with restraint.
Karina blinked, suddenly understanding.
Ah. So it wasn’t that I lacked charm.
A playful glint appeared in her eyes as she smirked. Slipping her arms around his waist from behind, she murmured softly, “Why not?”
Her delicate hands wandered over his abdomen, feather–light and teasing. For Zareth, it was
torture.
His heart pounded. His control was at its limit–until suddenly, she pulled away, pressing something cold into his palm.
It was a Level–Three Beast Crystal.
All right, let’s absorb beast crystals by ourselves tonight,” Karina said playfully before pulling the skin over herself, leaving him in stunned silence.
Zareth was speechless. She got me all worked up–only to run away?
“I’m heading out.” Clutching the beast crystal tightly, he sprang to his feet, his long legs carrying him swiftly toward the exit.

Zareth went straight to the river and submerged himself in the freezing water, washing away his frustration before returning home to absorb the beast crystal. But even then, he stayed outside. He was afraid.
Karina had absorbed ten Level–One Beast Crystals in one go. When she opened her eyes, her body was drenched in sweat, coated in a sticky, foul–smelling residue–the impurities expelled. from her body.
Her muscles felt stronger, her body lighter. Soaking in a large wooden barrel, she washed away the grime. As she scrubbed, she noticed her skin had lightened, her once–gaunt face now softer and glowing with vitality.
Her figure had become even more alluring than it had been in her previous life when she was blindly devoted to Avani.
Karina smirked to herself. No wonder everyone wanted to awaken their talents–it really was amazing.
The next morning, Zareth returned.
Seeing his refreshed, almost radiant face, she was momentarily stunned.
“You advanced again?” The speed at which this man leveled up was insane.
“Yeah. Last time, I advanced in the fire–type talent. Last night, after absorbing a Level–Three- Beast Crystal, my lightning–type talent also reached level two,” Zareth admitted casually.
Both of his talents had now reached level two. Watching his meteoric rise, Karina felt a twinge of envy. She needed to get stronger fast!
“Today, I’m going hunting with you!” she declared.
The fastest way to grow stronger was through battle. Absorbing beast crystals alone wasn’t enough -she needed actual combat experience.
Besides, they only had ten beast crystals left at home. Once Corvus returned, he’d need them too.
Zareth’s brows furrowed slightly, instinctively wanting to refuse. No beastman would willingly let his mate enter the forest.
But when he met Rina’s determined gaze, the words caught in his throat. “All right. I’ll take you with me.”
Karina wasn’t like other beastwomen–she had awakened her talents. Stopping her from growing stronger would do more harm than good.
Besides, winter was approaching. When it came time for him to hibernate, she would be left alone. She needed to be able to protect herself.
After breakfast, Karina grabbed two sharp stone blades, and they stepped outside.

together, their voices full of envy.
“Ava, you’re incredible! You actually awakened your talent!”
“You’re the first woman in our tribe to do so!”

“Not just in our tribe–among the entire beast race, there probably aren’t many females who have awakened talents, right?”
Avani stood in the center of the attention, her smile shy but proud.
“It’s nothing special. My water–type ability isn’t strong offensively, but I wanted to contribute to the tribe. Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I’m weaker than men.”
But inside, she was clated.
So what if I can’t bear children? I’ve awakened my talent, so I can still outshine Karina. In beast world, strength ruled all.
The other beastwomen looked at her with admiration.
“Ava, you’re too modest!”
“I’ve never seen water–type talents before. Ava, show us!”
Basking in their praise, Avani smiled, lifted her hand, and concentrated. A thin stream of water trickled from her fingertips.
“Pfft!” Ariel laughed. “That’s barely enough to drink. What’s the use of that?”
Avani’s face turned beet red. She had only recently awakened her talent, and it was after absorbing a significant amount of beast crystals that she was able to utilize it.
Just then, she caught sight of Karina walking by. Lifting her chin, she raised her voice. “I may be weak now, but Xelrik invited me to hunt a level–two pyronis spider in Phantom’s Hollow! Pyronis spiders are weak against water! Unlike some women, whose only purpose is bearing children.”
