Chapter 17 Rare Talent
The white wolf lunged, baring its large fangs. Reacting swiftly, Karina raised her foot and kicked its face, quickly retreating.
“What’s going on?” Karina asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Zareth had her encircled with his tail, protecting her from potential ambushes from the other wolves. His voice was solemn and incredibly deep. “This is likely a mutated wild beast. The leader of Level–One wolves normally would only be a stronger Level–Two wolf. However, this white wolf is clearly still just a Level–One.”
“Mutated wild beast? How are they different from regular beasts?” Karina questioned, puzzled.
Even though she had lived two lifetimes, in her previous life, she was merely an ordinary beastwoman, spending the latter half of her life in captivity. Hence, she didn’t question why Zareth seemed to know so much.
“The talent of mutant wild beasts is rather rare, and their strength surpasses that of ordinary beasts. This white wolf, although only Level–One, possessed strength beyond its level,” Zareth explained in a deep voice.
The white wolf, despite being Level–One, was able to lead a pack of Level–One wolves, which was a testament to its strength.
“A rare talent,” Karina murmured. Could it be related to the disappearance of the black blade just now?
“It’s a she–wolf. Her scent is very similar to that of the pup we encountered earlier. I’m afraid she might be the pup’s mother. If we don’t kill her today, I doubt we’ll be able to leave this place.” Zareth said with a furrowed brow.
“Let’s do this!” With a soft scoff, Karina once again picked up the stone blade and charged forward.
She wasn’t afraid of a mutated wolf after taking out a whole pack of ordinary ones. Since this she- wolf is already here, I might as well reunite her with her child in the afterlife!
The two fought side by side.
However, every time Karina approached the wolf, the weapon in her hand would inexplicably
vanish.
Her beast form wasn’t suited for battling larger, fiercer creatures, so she couldn’t really do anything.
Before long, the other two knives that Karina had brought with her were gone.
Her delicate brows furrowed as she watched Zareth use his serpent tail to fling a pile of rocks toward the white wolf. Suddenly, an epiphany struck her.

object disappear at a time. Zeth, let’s attack together!”
“All right, I’ll cover you.” Zareth nodded, entangling himself in a fight with the white wolf.
Finished
The white wolf was as powerful as a Level–Two wild beast. Zareth, having expended a great deal of energy dealing with the wolf pack, was evenly matched with it.
The black serpent coiled around a thick tree trunk, hurling it toward the white wolf’s head.
The white wolf sneered disdainfully, mocking its enemy for thinking a petty trick could ever harm it.
It was determined to send its pup’s killer to the afterlife.
The wolf’s emerald eyes briefly shone with a mysterious light, and the tree trunk vanished in an instant. However, in the very next second, it saw a trace of mockery flash across the depths of the black serpent’s eyes.
The white wolf stiffened, and at the same time, a chill ran down its spine.
A petite, ghostlike figure appeared behind it.
The agile cat revealed its black claws. With a swift, electrifying movement, the sharp claws. fiercely swiped toward the back of the white wolf’s head.
That swipe was made with all the strength that Karina could muster.
In an instant, the white wolf was split open, and a gush of yellowish–white fluid spurted out with a squelch.
The cat retracted its claws as a transparent object flew out.
Zareth transformed back into his human form, reaching out his hand to catch it. “It’s a first–grade beast crystal.”
Just as Karina turned around, ready to take a closer look, a pile of items suddenly clattered down next to the white wolf that had fallen to the ground.
Those items were colorful fruits, beast bones, beast crystals, and her previously vanished three knives!
“It has another Level–Two beast crystal? And these fruits… They’re all spiritual fruits. The power they hold is no less than the beast crystal. The white wolf must have prepared them for a breakthrough!” Zareth exclaimed in surprise.
“The white wolf is dead, so where did these things come from?” Karina asked, her brow furrowed.
Zareth carefully reflected, “I’ve heard of a rare talent that allows one to store items in a sort of storage space that can compress objects several times their size. I believe this white wolf possesses that very talent.”

Chapter 17 Rare Talent
She was only aware of a few common nature–type talents.
In Darkvale Tribe, even common talents were greatly treasured.

Zareth nodded. “Apart from nature–type talents, there are many rare ones. For instance, those with a light–type talent can heal injuries, and those with a dark–type talent can multiply their strength several times at night. There are even those with time talent who can turn back time…”
There were also talents that increased strength, speed, defense, and so on, and there were even more talents they couldn’t possibly imagine that existed.
After all, their knowledge of talents was only what the beasthumans knew of. There were still many that remained undiscovered.
Karina was lost in thought, much like a sponge striving to absorb water.
It was the first time she had learned about those concepts.
She was about to ask something else when suddenly, a wave of dizziness washed over her.
“Rina!” Zareth wrapped his arms around her slender waist, anxiously examining her for injuries. Only after he was certain she was unharmed did he speak gravely. “You must’ve used up all your strength in the fight earlier, which is incredibly dangerous.
While that method could amplify one’s strength, it would also inflict significant harm on the body.
Without careful attention, one might end up becoming a fool.
“Quickly absorb the white wolf’s beast crystal to replenish your strength. I’ll guard you here.” Zareth stated unquestionably.
The transparent beast crystal was thrust into Karina’s hand.
Karina indeed didn’t have much strength, so she didn’t refuse.
Because she was exhausted, she consumed a small spiritual fruit. Following that, she felt a hint of energy returning to her body. She then began to sit cross–legged, eyes closed, absorbing the energy from the beast crystal.
A surge of power continuously filled her body like tiny tributaries flowing into the parched riverbed.
The sensation coursed through Karina’s entire body, as if cleansing her from head to toe.
It wasn’t until the beast crystal in her hand was fully absorbed and completely vanished that Karina’s pale lips regained their color. Her fair skin seemed even more delicate than before, so much so that even her pores were invisible.
She raised her hand, and a fire snake as thick as a barrel erupted forth!
Chapter 17 Rare Talent
Under Karina’s control. the flame didn’t spread to the surrounding vegetation at all.
* Fikished
“Rina. has your fire–type talent leveled up?” A hint of delight broke through Zareth’s usually stoic expression.
He didn’t expect that, with just one visit to Phantom’s Hollow, Karina’s talent had already advanced to Level–Two.
After all, it had only been less than a month since she awakened her talent when countless beastmen have spent their entire lives unable to advance from Level–One to Level–Two.
As such, he thought it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call her a genius!
Feeling the surge of power within her. Karina nodded with a smile. “It’s a pity that only my fire- type talent has advanced. My lightning–type talent is still at Level–One. It seems this mutated white wolf’s beast crystal really is formidable.”
Upon hearing that, Zareth couldn’t help but feel a twitch in his temples. A pity? You should already be grateful that one of your talents leveled up.
Out of nowhere, Zareth suddenly felt a sense of danger. If things continue like this. Rina might surpass me. How will I protect her in the future, then? I’m a man! I can’t possibly be weaker than my mate. It seems I must work even harder to grow stronger!
“Even though we didn’t find the pyronis spider today, encountering a wolf pack was still quite gain.” Karina expressed with satisfaction.
The two of them extracted the beast crystals from the carcasses of the grey wolves.
There were forty–two Level–One wolves. The rest were all ordinary gray wolves. In addition to the beast crystals dropped from the white wolf’s space, there were a total of one hundred and twenty of them./
They made back their investment in no time.
The beast crystals and spiritual fruits were all packed away, filling up two whole hemp sacks.
Patting the corpse of the wolf beast, Karina expressed some regret. “What a shame. If only we can carry all these bodies of Level–One beasts, we could make a fortune.”
The meat, fangs, and claws of Level–One wolves were all valuable items.
Right after that, the grey wolf carcass she was patting suddenly vanished from their sight!
Karina was taken aback.
Turning around, she exchanged a look with Zareth, her eyes brimming with surprise and delight
