Frank took my hand and led me towards the speedboat moored by the shore.

I took off my diving mask and, upon seeing the wound on Frank’s back, tears welled up in my eyes and spilled over.
Frank gave a weak smile, his voice faint but resolute. “Yulia, don’t be afraid. I’m okay.”
Frank then revved up the speedboat and set a course for the shore. Throughout the journey, I clung tightly to Frank’s hand.

I paced anxiously outside the emergency room, each passing second dragging on interminably.
