I bowed to the king and walked back to my
palace. I was relaxed in my own home, so I
wasn’t paying attention.
Someone knocked me out from behind.
When I woke up, I was in the middle of the
werewolf den.
Darian was sitting next to me, looking worn
out. He looked happy when he saw me wake
- up.
“Bella, you’re awake! Are you okay?”
I rubbed my throbbing head. “If you wanted to
talk, you could have asked. Why kidnap me?”
Darian didn’t get angry. He tried to hug me,
but I stepped back.

“I’m bonded to Sylar now. Don’t touch me. Be
respectful.”
Darian looked desperate, and weirdly happy.
“Bella, it was a mistake. Everything was a
mistake. You should be marrying me.”

“Did you know? I was reborn. Last time, you
married me. I united the werewolves. We were
happy.‘

“Maybe I messed everything up when I was
reborn. But I killed Finny now. I’ll only have
you. I can be the way I was back then.‘

“Marry me again. Let’s be happy. Let’s have
kids.”
I stared at him, frozen.
He killed Finny? She was a real person!
He was obsessed with her. He looked for her
as soon as he was reborn. Now he was saying
he killed her like it was nothing!
What was it all about? Did he avenge her last
time?

He was crazy. It was sad.
“Darian, it’s not your rebirth that changed
things. I was reborn too.”
“You think I’d pick you after what you did last
time?”
“Why are you saying these things? Don’t you
feel ashamed?”
Darian shook his head, frantic. “No. It’s not
true.

I scoffed. “So, can you let me go now?”
Darian blocked my path. “No. I messed up
before, but now I know I love you. I can’t let
you marry someone else.”
“Trust me again. I’ll be good to you. I’ll be the
way I was when I rescued you.”
I looked down. He was good to me back then.
He was always asking how I was.
But I heard him talking to his men. Even that
first meeting was planned.
The Snowfangs were getting close. His men

said the siren’s songs could calm the
werewolves on the full moon.
So, he had his men track me. When I left siren
territory, they let out the wolves. Then he
came to save me.
Our first meeting was a show. How could I
trust him?
