I grabbed my phone, my fingers shaking ast I dialed the pack elders. Lukas lunged forward, grabbing my wrist. His grip was strong, but this time, I didn’t flinch.
“Ayla, don’t do this,” he pleaded, his voice. desperate. “I have something to show you. Please, just listen. Maybe… maybe you‘ Il understand. Maybe you’ll forgive me.”
I pulled my wrist from his grasp and glared. at him, but he was already pulling out his phone. I wasn’t interested in his excuses, but I couldn’t stop him from showing me whatever pathetic video he had prepared.
The screen lit up with my mother’s tear- streaked face, her voice choked with

My blood ran cold as I watched her. Every word felt like a knife twisting in my gut.
“For my own good,” I whispered, but it felt like a curse. A lie.
I slammed Lukas‘ s phone down, making the screen crack. “You think I’ll believe that? You think I’ll just forgive everything? After everything you and my mother have done? I’m not your damn pawn, Lukas.”
His eyes widened as he stepped back, looking like I had struck him. He didn’t know what to say. His expression was a mix of confusion and regret, but this time, I didn’t care about his remorse.

I was shaking with rage now, my breath coming out in sharp bursts. “You‘ ve made me weak, Lukas. I trusted you, and you made me believe I was nothing without you. But not anymore.”
His eyes darkened, and for a moment, I thought he might lash out, but instead, he just said, “Ayla… I love you. You know that. I never wanted to hurt you. I was young, I made mistakes, but I want to make it right.”
I wanted to scream. To slap him again. His words were nothing but poison, dripping from his lips like syrup. “You think you can just say that and expect me to forget. everything?”

He stood frozen, unable to respond.
I felt a strange sense of satisfaction as I saw him falter. The alpha who had ruled over me for so long, now reduced to nothing.
I turned and walked away, my heart pounding, my chest aching with the weight of everything I had just said. I had finally broken free.
