Lukas didn’t give up, he was monitoring my every movement and came back just again, after a long day at work. He came again, begging…I had thought of relocating again but I can’t be running from him every time.
“These scars, Lukas? You remember them, right? Or are you too busy playing the perfect little alpha to notice?” I jabbed a finger at the jagged mark running down my arm, feeling the rage flow through my veins.
His eyes shifted, glinting with something that could’ve been guilt, but he was quick to mask it, his jaw tightening. Typical Lukas.
“Let me guess, this one came from when your precious little mate shoved me into

those damn thorn bushes?” I sneered, not waiting for him to speak. “This one’s from when I sliced my hand while cooking- remember that, Lukas? You laughed at me, said I was a clueless pup who couldn’t
even handle a kitchen knife.”
He flinched, but I didn’t care. His excuses didn’t matter. None of it mattered
anymore.
“And this one,” I pointed to a fresh bruise on my leg, “I got it when I was rushing to bring you your damn ‘important‘ papers. I slipped on a rock, and I was bleeding all over the place, trying to catch up with you. Do you remember that night, Lukas? Or do you erase everything that paints you as a selfish bastard?”
Lukas looked away, his wolfish eyes flashing, but I could see it. The guilt. The regret. But it was too late for apologies.
now.
He inhaled deeply and exhaled, trying to stay calm, but I could see the frustration

boiling beneath his surface. “Ayla, can we just move on from the past? I know I messed up, but why hold on to this? It s over. Can’t we just start fresh?”
“Start fresh?” I laughed bitterly. “You don’t get to erase the shit you‘ ve put me through, Lukas. Not this time.”
I paused, letting the silence stretch between us like a choking vine. The anger roared in my chest, but there was more. Sol much more I needed him to understand. “You never gave a damn, Lukas. You gave me the illusion of love, and I was stupid enough to fall for it.”
I watched as his jaw clenched. He wanted to say something, to deny it. But there was nothing left to deny.
“Do you remember that night, Lukas?” I asked again, my voice like ice. “When you told me I had to run to your damn cabin in the middle of the night? Because you
‘forgot‘ some stupid pack paper that I needed to deliver right then?”

I could still feel the frost that had clung to my fur as I ran, my paws slipping on the icy ground.
“Remember how I slipped and fell again? How I was covered in mud and blood by the time I reached you?” My fists were clenched now, my nails digging into my palms. “And you know what you said when you saw me? ‘How could you be so careless, Ayla? You ruined the most important document.” “I spit the words like venom. “Only it wasn’t an important. document, was it, Lukas? It was a piece of land you planned to give to Celeste–land that should’ve been mine. But you didn’t care, did you?”
His face went pale as the truth hit him. He didn’t deny it. He couldn’t.
“Ayla-” he started, but I didn’t want to
hear it.
