Chapter 17
Auro
1 frowned the moment I heard her call another man’s name. It’s been a few days and I still haven’t been able to bring myself to do this.
1 lowered my head and looked at the card once more just as I sat in my car, 1 should say something, introduce myself, and get to business but my ego fch hurt already.
The lump m my throat was getting bigger and just as I figured out a better approach to this. Eleanor cleared her throat. “C’mon Dante, you know⠀⠀ how much I need you now
That was all–everything I could handle to hear in one phone call, I ended the call and tossed the phone to the passenger seat while bating my lips as a way of containing my emotions.
“Really?” I blurted asking no one in particular. I obviously had my doubts when James or whatever his name is said she was not seeing anyone. 1 agree thai | was excited for a minute there but hearing her call the name Dante with so muchi need was definitely something I wasn’t ready for
I reached for my phone and stared at the screen for a moment, wondering what the hell I was even going to say to her. Truth is, I had no idea what I was going to say but I just wanted to hear her voice, and uh—well, that happened.
When I left the office. I had one thing in mind and it was to fix up this issue and start working on this damn case but along the line. I thought about Eleanor and how much I really want to understand ber.
I want to know if she has really moved on and there’s only one damn way to find out. The only way to get whatever formation I need is by working with her but I know Eleanor although I am not familiar with Nor Brown and how she has been greatly shaped into someone different.
1 can however say that if there’s anything that hasn’t changed over time it’s the fact that Eleanor is a very focused woman and she knows when to be
serious with work
“Ourgh,” I groaned at the thought of the name she called. “1
I should just ger
get back to work.” I muttered.
I tapped on the to–do list on my screen and ticked out the first two that I already did. Now, I have to drive elsewhere. I tapped the address on the map and waited for a while before Kicking the car to life I turned on the ignition and drove away, jamming to soft songs in the background. It took about twenty–five minutes to make it to my destination and as I parked, I tumed off the car, the purring of the engine coming to a halt
I grabbed the only thing I needed, which was my phone, and climbed out of the car gently. Looking around for anything strange. I walked straight to the door belonging to Charles Logan.
I rang the doorbell and prepared to wait for a response but the door opened almost immediately, making my brows raise
The lady in front of me looked like she belonged to a reality show about models. She was wearing a simple red bodycon dress but it was obvious she was heading out and she just happened to open the door at the same time that I rang the bell.
A deugner bag was hanging from her arm and her blonde hair didn’t seem to be affected by the tropical humidity. Aside from these, another notable feature is her lips, which was well painted with red matte lipstick. I think I now have a thing for this color of lipstick because the last time 1 saw it on Leanor, I knew I was never letting her
Her red–painted mouth parted after a second of silence. “You are!”
“I’m Avro, an Attorney working on a case and 1 would like to ask Charles some questions.
She swallowed. “This is about that woman’s murder, right?”
I looked right into her eyes and gave a small nod. “Yes, it’s the Champ’s case. Mind letting me in to see Charles?” Before she got the chance to say anything else. I pointed to the garage where his car was parked “Tcan see he’s having a free day today.”
“Yeah she blurted and pulled the door open. She led the way inside the apartment and I followed quietly. The apartment is uh—nothing like I imagined it to be. Honestly, I thought it was going to be something simple with a couch here and a bed there and maybe a couple of tables but Charles did put in a lot of good work to have this place look this good.
It didn’t just look like a house–it looked like a museum more than it looked like a house. The high–ceilinged foyer, the soft amber glow radiated. from a chandelier, and the heavy Victorian–styled doors adorned the space.
“Here,” the blonde muttered. “Have a seat and I’ll let him know he has a visitor.”
I gave a small nod and watched her walk away. There are a lot of things I need to find out but the most intriguing of all is why Logan was having an affair with Morgan’s wife when he has her–the blonde?!

Chapter 17
It’s kind of strange that he has a woman here and yet he got entangled with another man’s wife, I know I’ll only end up being a hypocrite if I try to say more on the matter of cheating so I just remained calm, looking around.
“I hear I have company, a deep voice resonated from the stairs “Pleasant or unpleasant??”
turned in the direction of the voice and I adjusted on my seat. “Tm not sure which it would fall into?
By his side was the blonde and even though I tried to shake it off. I couldn’t stop seeing Eleanor in her. Maybe it is the red lipstick or that she’s putting up with a cheating partner. Whatever it is, it just heightened my desire to have Nor Brown on this case.
