Chapter 29
Avro
Taking my private elevator to the office floor, I shoved out my phone and scrolled through it. I barely call anyone when it isn’t necessary and right now–Tom Hardy is about to become my most dialled contact
Not just because I’ve assigned a task to him, but because he’ll be the one representing me. After a single dial, he picked and his baritone voice came
next.
“It’s cool–1 do not expect you to start giving feedback on the plane. What I however expect you to do is to keep me updated. Is that gotten?”
Yes, sir.”
I licked my lips reflexively as 1 stood in front of my door. I need to know everything Eleanor–sorry, Nor Brown says about this project. The number of times she asks a question, no matter how random the question may seem. I want it reported.”
Cotten sir!
“Do not give any information outside of what you’ve been told. You can loosen up a bit, talk, and even crack a joke but don’t forget why you’re there”
Anyone listening would think I was sending him to a war front or something and that may just be a letter option because the kind of work I expect him to pur inch, is more than a trained soldier should.
“One more thing.” I muttered. I didn’t forget this part nor did think of it as trivial. I just figured keeping it for last would make a lot of sense and not raise any suspicions. “I need you to take note of every time Nor Brown mentions my mume or anything relating to me
But sir–what if it’s hos part of the job?”
More interesting “Then, I want an update on that too. This is solely for the work we are about to do and I’d love to know everything about an employer”
But Not Brom isn’t your employer.
I couldn’t think of a response to that and how Tom must have felt saying that. Whether Heanor is my employee or not. I still need the updates.
“I’ll check in with you later, Tom. You should get some rest and get ready for your task as my representanve.
¦ ended the call and just stared at my screen for a little longer.
“Really?“a deep voice mocked behind me and I turned my head. Shit–how long has Carlos been listening!
“Elvesdropping?” I frowned,
“Not a crime in the constitution,” he answered sternly: “But this? I have no idea what to call it‘
“What are you talking about?”
“You want to know every time Eleanor mentions your name? Oh my fucking lord, is that really supposed to be normal? You are getting distracted and you’re not even seeing it
Well. Eleanor is already a welcome distraction and I couldn’t even deny it. What I’ll however deny is getting distracted. I am too dignified for that getting distracted by a woman
I took one quick glance at my watch and then looked at him. “We better get going.
“Yes, but you need to explain why you need all of that from Tom. Don’t you think it’s a bit too much?”
No
Carlos cocked an eyebrow. “Look at this–Tom is meant to be your representative. What he has to do is get the paperwork to Eleanor, seal the deal. and return.
“And which part of that is he not doing?” I asked, despite knowing what he meant.
The point is you’re making him do more than what is required professionally. What the hell do you mean by you want to know how many times

she mentions your name? Does that make any damn sense?!”
“Yes, if you keep your damn emotions aside for a minute. I need to know if Eleanor is committed to this case as required.”
gave a nod and before he could say anything else, I motioned toward the door,
“Right behind you,” he answered lazily and we took the way out. His navy suit was clipped to his hands and his tie barely loosened.
As we headed out to the open space area, I looked around in one head turn. All the employees operated collectively to keep the firm going in the mout organized way ever
“Which of the spots?” Carlos casually asked as we strode to where my limousine was parked. I have no idea why I chose to come to work with this car—it’s one of my oldest yet most expensive cars and I haven’t been using it so much Lately.
“Just somewhere chill” Although the response didn’t seem like I had anywhere in mind. I actually had one bar in mind. Somewhere chill, cory, and one that has the best kind of wines–particularly the one I took in Virginia during my last visit.
Not much was said during the drive because I kept playing loud songs, not wanting to give Carlos a clunce at making sense of the situation. When we got to the spot I had picked in my head, I saw the line of satisfaction right on his forehead..
The bar is swanky and just as we got to the large arched doorways, the security guard recognized me and we exchanged a short form of pleasantry. It’s an ultra–modern bar with a good taste of music to keep your mind floating. The music in the background was well–selected by the bar’s musical team and although you could tell there was soft music in the background, it could barely be heard over the chatter
I would have allowed Carlos to give the orders but since I needed a drink–something that reminded me of Eleanor and how much I wanted to see her that night, I ordered my drink myself
“Woah,” Carlos remarked. “Should I be waiting for a reason behind that”
He definitely could tell it was new–picking anything else over whiskey but I just couldn’t confirm wi
“Saw it in the news thought I could give it a try.”
confirm whatever he was thinking
He hummed to that not entirely convinced but ready to give me the benefit of the doubt. Knocking down the burning shot, I snagged the bottle and poured a hefty dose of amber liquid
“Something tells me this shit cost a lot
What doesn’t
