Eleanor
Loud music and bumping bodies were what welcomed us. I kept looking around wondering if this was a good idea but Vi snatched my hands.
“You’re going to love it!” She yelled, raising my hands in the air.
I gave her a quick smile and returned to observing my environment. It’s the first thing I learned in my job; paying attention to the surroundings. and checking for any potential threat.
“What are you doing? Viola asked when she noticed how I kept studying the place.
“Nothing. Just uh, just checking for clues”
She frowned. “C’mon Vi. If I wanted you to work then I’d have taken you to Dis Cover and not a club. I need you to forget you are an investigator for once and just do your thing!!”
1 looked again and well, the club was loaded, and have covered the floor.
“Everyone here just wants to have fun and escape reality”
30% of murders that occurred in Norfolk in the last six months were traced to clubs, getting high, and being victims. Although that kept ringing in my head. I didn’t counter Vi when she said everyone here had a clear intention.
You know? Sometimes. Vi is just too innocent for the world as I hate to break it to her but the world isn’t secking to protect the innocent ones even If they were, then a little girl who I guess is underage and probably in her teens wouldn’t be allowed here.

“Eleanor!!” Vi called and I turned to her, “Yeah yeah,” you are right. “I should probably forget about work for a minute”
Dancers were in cages that were suspended from the ceiling and maybe there was no threat yet

I gave a nod and we
d we went straight to the bar. We found two empty bar stools and just adjusted them.
A man passed us, turning back to look at Viola with so much thirst.
“Damn,” I muttered. “A man can’t even keep his

to himself.”
“They’re for seeing. Nor.”
“Right. A shot of tequila,” I muttered waving at the barman.
Tll have distilled whiskey,” Vi added and in a split second, our drinks were right in front of us.
“Well, toast to forgeiling our professions tonight”
“Toast.” I mustered and clinked the shot glasses.
I chuckled at how silly it sounded and we downed everything.
“Mind if 1 steal a second?”
It was the same man from a few minutes ago and although I didn’t look up from my glass. I could tell he was staring at me.
“Sure,” I muttered, turning my head away so he could have his time with Viola but I frowned when it wasn’t Viola he was referring to
“You should be on the front page of a magazine,” he said sofily. “Red has never looked this good on anyone.

ment, it dawned on me who he was referring to. “Maybe I should also forget Fm a data analyst and just have some fun with you ladies.”

I couldn’t be mad at her, 1 had absolutely no reason to be. I closed my eyes and just continued doing my thing, dancing slowly and reminding myself that I have ever damn thing in control
I felt a hand on my hips and a lump formed in my that. His grip was powerful yet gentle as he pulled me closer.
My curiosity was piqued when I felt his large body behind me, his heat surrounded me as I swayed my hips.
I didn’t want to protest when he moved his hands to my side, seductively but I definitely needed to see who it was
