Chapter 8
I maneuvered my wheelchair into the kitchen, my hands trembling as I grabbed a knife from the drawer. My heart raced with a mix of rage and satisfaction as I rolled toward Nancy, who was standing there, her face
drained of color

̈wnat are you going to ao, you crazy bitch?!” she yelled, panic evident.
in her voice. “Declan, help me! This woman is out to get us both–she’s going to harm our baby!”
didn’t flinch. “The baby is innocent,” I replied coolly, “but you’re not. Now sign the damn papers.”
Before she could react, I plunged the knife into her arm. She screamed, the sound grating on my ears, but it felt so good.
“Sign it!” I ordered. “Or I’ll keep going, and next time, I won’t miss.”
“Lena!” Declan cried, his voice filled with dread. “Stop! Please–don’t do anything rash!”
I stabbed her again, my eyes burning with hatred. “You want me to stop?
Now!!

She whimpered, blood staining her shirt. “I was wrong, please, let me go. It hurts, it really hurts…”
I leaned in close, my voice low and menacing. “Did you let me go when it hurt? Did you think about my pain?”
I could see the fear in her eyes as the truth began to dawn on her. I stabbed her again.
“Stop!” Declan shouted, his voice breaking. “I’ll sign, I’ll sign, just please stop hurting her!”
He scrambled to grab the divorce papers, his hands shaking as he scrawled his signature. Then, he rushed over to check on Nancy, his face pale with concern.
I took the signed papers from his hand, feeling a twisted sense of

satisfaction. I watched the two of them–this so–called couple–huddled together. They had no idea what was coming next.
Declan turned back to me, his face etched with disappointment. “Lena, why are you doing this? Nancy’s pregnant. Don’t you care about that?”
I smirked, unfazed by his words. “Oh,
I care. In fact, I’m so grateful for her little ‘pregnancy.‘ It made this whole divorce process so much easier. You really are a fool.”
His face froze, the color draining
from it as the realization hit him.
With a burst of anger, he ripped open Nancy’s shirt.
A latex pregnancy pad was stuck to
her stomach.

“YOU LIAR!” Declan bellowed, his face turning crimson with rage. “You tricked me. You made me believe all these lies! You made me kill my own child!”
His trembling hands reached for the knife I’d deliberately dropped near him. With the last bit of strength in his drugged state, he slashed at her, again and again. Blood poured from Nancy’s body as she weakly begged for mercy.
“Declan… I love you… I didn’t have a choice… please, don’t hurt me
anymore…”
I watched the scene with twisted pleasure, a dark laugh bubbling up from deep within me. I couldn’t help
- it.
“Look at you now.” I sneered. “How

does it feel, huh? The woman you loved–who you thought was your savior–deceived you. And now, look at what you’ve become. A monster.”
Declan finally stopped. Nancy passed out from the blood loss, her body crumpling to the floor in a lifeless heap.
He collapsed at my feet, groveling. “Please, Lena, don’t leave me. I
swear, I’ll never hurt you again. I’ll never trust her again. Please, just don’t leave me. I’ve made so many
mistakes, I know, but I can fix it. I
swear, I’ll fix everything.”
I threw my phone at him. “You
think I didn’t know about her fake
pregnancy? You think I didn’t know what was going on? It was when she was bragging to me about you that I found her dirty, used pads in the

He frantically scrolled through the messages, his desperation palpable.
But I couldn’t care less.
And then, I heard it–the sound of sirens, coming closer, getting louder.
My gaze shifted, and for a moment, I saw the seventeen–year–old boy who had once cared for me, but now, he
was only a ghost.
I looked at the man in front of me, his face twisted with guilt, and whispered, “It’s over.”
The life he had built on lies was
crumbling.
I took all of his company shares, turning them into cash. And with that money, I left the country, seeking
treatment for my damaged throat.

Declan would never see me again. I’d be free.
The future stretched out before me,
and I knew one thing for sure: One day, somewhere far away, a magpie would come and bring me good news.
The End
Book 2:
Priscilla Bates and I fell from the
rooftop together.
She flipped over and pinned me
underneath her, her face twisted with
rage. “He will definitely choose me, and you should just die here!”
Even though I struggled hard, I still couldn’t break free from her grip and fell heavily onto the ground.

My boyfriend, however, lovingly cradled her in his arms, completely ignoring me as I lay there spitting blood.
“Priscilla Bates’s bleeding is much worse than yours; she needs a blood transfusion immediately!”
In the agony of broken bones, I died because no one came to my rescue.
I had signed a body donation agreement a long time ago, leaving me as nothing but an empty skeleton in the end.
Later, Floyd Wilkinson searched his entire life but could never find that lost ray of light.
