Lucas stared at the delivery man, his hand trembling uncontrollably. The last time a package arrived, it had shattered his world.
He took the envelope, fingers brushing over what felt like a thin booklet inside the padded cover. Assuming it was from Selene, he signed for it without hesitation.
“It has to be from Selene… I knew it. She still cares about me,” he mumbled, tearing the package open.
But the moment he saw the crimson cover stamped with the golden seal of The Moonlit Oath Hall and the bold title – “Nullify the Mate Agreement” – his entire body froze. It felt like a bolt of lightning had struck him straight through the chest.

The voice was all too familiar.
Lucas spun around and saw Aidan leaning casually against a Ferrari, one arm draped around Emily’s waist like she belonged to him.
“Emily?” Lucas’s voice cracked, disbelief written all over his face.
Emily let out a soft giggle and leaned into Aidan’s chest. “Don’t call me that. Aidan gets jealous.”
Seeing them wrapped around each other like that made Lucas’s whole body shake. His blood boiled with rage.
“How could you do this to me?” he shouted. “Emily, I gave up everything for you! Selene’s gone because of you! How the hell could you betray me like this?”

“You hit me once,” Lucas gasped, clutching his face, blood soaking his hands. “And you think this makes it right?”
“You think I need a fucking excuse?” Aidan growled, stomping again–this time crushing Lucas’s hand with a sickening crunch.
“You really still think you’re the storm–wielding Lucas everyone feared? Get real. Selene gave me everything. The company’s mine. Hell, even your mate–she’s mine now.”
He spat on Lucas’s head.

Lucas seethed, his voice hoarse and
shaking. “I won’t let you get away with this… you fucking hybrids.”
Emily crouched down beside him, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips.
“Oh, please. Give it a rest. You’re just a drowned rat now, Lucas. Anyone walking by could kick you in the ribs and not think twice. What do you even have left to fight with?” She leaned in closer. “If I were you, I’d get the hell out of the pack before someone really finishes you off.”
Blood kept bubbling from Lucas’s lips. He stared at her, eyes burning with hatred. “This… this is who you really are.”
Emily gave him a saccharine smile and lightly patted his bloodied cheek.
