Chapter 4
The thought that my child wasn’t dead had taken root in my mind, growing uncontrollably, painfully lodged in my heart.
That same day, I quietly left the hospital.
Luna had updated her social media with her location at a tea shop just ten minutes ago.
By the time I arrived, she was sitting there, leisurely playing with her phone.
A baby stroller was parked beside her.
I instinctively rushed over to see the child, but Luna spotted me first.
The moment she saw me, she quickly pulled the stroller closer to her.

“What are you doing?” she asked warily, a hint of nervousness in her eyes.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my voice.
“I want to see the child.”
She froze for a second, then picked up the baby and gave me a mocking smile.
“This is my child, why should I let you see her?”
Her gaze was filled with defiance and
smugness.
“You gave birth to a stillborn, no luck raising a child, so stay away from my child.”
Luna’s words pierced my heart like a knife.

But the moment I looked at the child, I knew -she was mine.
My sanity shattered in an instant, and I lunged forward, trying to snatch the baby from her arms.
I hadn’t expected Luna to hold the baby tightly and shove me away with force.
I stumbled, nearly falling.
In an instant, the attention of everyone around us focused on the scene.
I regained my balance, glaring at Luna, tears welling up in my eyes.
And then, to my shock, she turned to the crowd and screamed:

“This woman is trying to steal my baby! She’s crazy! Somebody help!”
Luna’s voice was shrill and panicked, drawing the surrounding crowd closer to us.
In the chaos, several people pinned me down, and I instantly became the target of everyone’s scorn.
Eventually, the police took me to the station.
In the interrogation room, I gripped the edge of the table tightly, struggling to calm myself, trying to explain everything to the officers.
One of the officers briefly asked me a few questions, then made a phone call to someone unknown and told me to wait.
Before long, Andy arrived.

When he saw me, he wasn’t angry. Instead, a look of relief crossed his face.
“Sarah, why did you sneak out of the hospital? Let’s go back, look at the trouble you’ve caused the police.”
He spoke softly, his outstretched hand trembling slightly, concern filling his eyes.
I pulled my hand away from his grasp, my eyes reddened as I glared at him.
Even now, he still pretended to care about me, wearing a mask of sympathy.
I took a deep breath, my chest rising and falling violently.
“She took my child! What’s wrong with wanting my child back?”

Andy’s eyes showed a flicker of helplessness.
“Sarah, stop this. Our child has been gone for a long time. Calm down, let’s go home and talk about it, okay?”
He spoke softly, stepping closer to me, reaching out to stroke my hair.
But I slapped his hand away with a sharp motion.
“Andy! Even in front of the police, you still want to keep lying to me?”
