Chapter 11
On the day of the trial, Andy sat on the cold defendant’s bench, his eyes hollow, as if his soul had already left him.
It wasn’t until Luna appeared that his eyes turned bloodshot in an instant.
“Luna, you can have children–why did you lie to me? Why did you let me drown in guilt and self–blame all this time?”
Exposed, Luna no longer bothered to pretend. With a fearless expression, she said:
“Because that’s the only way you, a fool, would do whatever I wanted, give me whatever I asked for.”

Andy’s voice was low and full of despair.
“Then why did you steal my child? You killed her! She was my child too!”
Luna sneered, “If it weren’t for using her to secure your assets in the future, do you think I’d be willing to raise her? Who knew she’d be such a burden? She died after just a few days–had I known, I wouldn’t have wasted my efforts.”
Hearing this, it felt as though Andy’s heart. had been violently torn apart. Pain and fury twisted across his face.
He stared at Luna angrily, his chest heaving, then buried his face in his hands, sobbing uncontrollably.
With all the evidence gathered, Luna was sentenced to twenty–five years for

manslaughter, while Andy received a ten–year sentence for child trafficking.
When the verdict was announced, Luna finally began to panic:
“Why am I being arrested? Andy gave the child to me!
“I could do whatever I wanted with that baby! If anyone is to blame, it’s him!
“I can’t go to prison! My life is just beginning! I don’t want to go to prison!”
The day after the verdict, I buried my daughter with Jack by my side.
Every day after that, I visited her grave, wiping the headstone and talking to her.
One day, I went to see Luna in prison.

as soybeans streamed down his face, and he repeatedly begged for my forgiveness.
“Sarah, it’s all my fault. I’m so sorry, but you have to believe me–I truly love you…”
I didn’t want to bother to engage in pointless conversation with him; I simply listened in silence.
Seeing that I remained quiet, he mistakenly thought my heart had moved and continued,
“I only wanted to make things right with Luna. I never expected the child to die. I thought we would have more children.”
“Sarah, wait for me after I’m released from prison. I promise I’ll make it up to you once I’m free.”
I let out a cold laugh, my eyes filled with
