Book 2 After Divorce: From
Despised Housewife To Boss
“Ms. Taylor, are you sure you want a divorce?”
The lawyer asked me again, confirming my decision.
“I must remind you that, if you divorce, considering our country’s marriage laws, the property division will be very unfavorable for you.”
The lawyer laid out the details.
I knew all too well.
My husband, Eric, was now an executive, with an annual salary of at least half a

While I, a housewife for over a decade, might walk away with nothing.
That was exactly why Eric had grown more indifferent to me, openly belittling me in front of others.
This morning, a parent from the same neighborhood suddenly called me, asking why I hadn’t attended the parent–teacher meeting.
I thought I had simply forgotten, so I hurried to the school, only to realize that our son didn’t want me there at all.
To make matters worse, his homeroom teacher was none other than Eric’s first love, Maggie.

“What are you doing here?” He pushed me out of the classroom.
“I came to attend the meeting” I stammered, trying to explain.
He frowned. “Dad will be here. You can go home.”
I stood there, feeling helpless. “I’ve always been the one to attend these meetings. Your dad’s been busy with work…”
My son interrupted impatiently, “That was then, this is now. Dad’s a leader, even if he doesn’t go to the company, no one will say anything. Just go home already.”

for everyone to see you like this. You look like an old hag.”
“Jason, who is this lady to you?” Maggie stepped out.
Jason quickly grabbed Maggie’s arm, speaking to her in a soft, affectionate tone, “It’s my mom. I’ve already told her to go home.”
“You can’t be like this. Your mom cares about you,” Maggie said, playfully flicking Jason on the forehead.
Jason hated anyone touching his head. He’d throw a fit if it happened even by accident.
But today, he smiled and clung to Maggie’s arm, acting all sweet.
“He’s just a kid, doesn’t know any better.

Don’t mind him, Maggie said with a smile, defending Jason.
As if she had forgotten, I was Jason’s mother.
“Sorry I’m late, Eric said, striding over. He paused when he saw me. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to the parent–teacher meeting.”
“I told you, you don’t need to worry about school stuff. Just take care of the house” Eric said, pulling me aside. Then, with a protective air, he turned to Maggie and said, “Sorry for the trouble.”
“You should go back now, Eric told me, handing me his briefcase.
“Teacher, let’s go in, Jason said, tugging

Maggie toward the classroom.
Eric glanced at me, said nothing, and followed them inside.
I stood outside, watching Jason eagerly interact with Maggie while Eric closed the door. Suddenly, I felt like the outsider.
“Ms. Taylor, I’ll apply to the court as you requested. If everything goes smoothly, the process should be completed in half a month.”
The lawyer’s words snapped me out of my thoughts.
Half a month–just enough time.
