Chapter 4
We waited for half an hour in the hospital before Tyra arrived.
She wore a long black gown and a veil that made her look like a noblewoman from an ancient era living in a castle.
Upon seeing the four of us, she bypassed Alpha Howar entirely and walked straight to me, taking my hand.
“You must be Zelda, right? I’ve heard about you on my way here; what a tragic child you are.”
This was the first time I experienced warmth from a stranger.
After enduring such an ordeal, everyone had

scorned me. They did not condemn those despicable Rogues; instead, they solely blamed me, saying that if I had been more vigilant, none of this would have happened.
At that moment, I felt as if I had plunged into hell. Faced with Beta Lewis’s abandonment and the vilification from others, I had no idea how to continue living.
So when Alpha Howar saved me, I clung to him wholeheartedly as if he were a lifeline.
But when his redemption came tarnished with deception and pain, Tyra’s instinctive compassion felt all the more precious.
I fought back tears and looked at her with earnest pleading, “Please, it’s all up to you!”
“Good child, don’t be afraid. If you truly have suffered a great injustice, I will certainly

demand that Alpha Howar provide you with a satisfactory explanation.”
Tyra lovingly stroked my head but cast a penetrating gaze at Alpha Howar, as if to warn him.
Impatient, Alpha Howar urged, “Enough of this, stop dawdling. Get in there for your check–up; my time is valuable, and I don’t have any to waste here with you.”
Tyra ignored him, holding my hand as she led me into the examination room.
The check–up was swift. Even though I was in unbearable pain after the recent abortion, just the thought of soon banishing Cheryl from the Pack filled me with strength.
After the examination, Tyra asked me to wait outside for a moment.

A few minutes later, she emerged with the report in her hand.
Alpha Howar spoke first, “Well? What’s the verdict?”
Tyra didn’t rush to answer him; instead, she gave me a deep, contemplative look and shook her head, a glimmer of disappointment in her eyes.
A chill ran through me, and I felt an ominous premonition.
Then I saw Tyra hand the examination report to Alpha Howar.
“The equipment doesn’t lie; this woman’s uterus is still intact.”
“No! That’s impossible!”

I widened my eyes in disbelief, rushing forward to snatch the report from Alpha Howar’s hands.
But the results were clear: I had only undergone an abortion procedure, and there were no other abnormalities.
If the report was accurate, it meant Cheryl had deliberately provoked me in the hospital, so she could say such things!
I had fallen for her trick!
I stood frozen, my mind a chaotic blur.
Cheryl burst into tears of joy, “I told you
I didn’t do that, Brother Howar! This is wonderful; now no one can force me out of the Pack!”

She deliberately referenced our bet, as if to remind Alpha Howar
Instantly, Alpha Howar’s gaze toward me turned serious.
“Zelda, everyone must be accountable for their actions. Now, I demand you kneel in the hospital lobby, in front of everyone, and apologize to Cheryl!”
I lifted my head, a wave of pain washing over me. Despite knowing his true nature, I felt heartbroken at that moment.
Cheryl then feigned modesty, playing the good person.
“Oh, it’s okay. I can understand Zelda’s feelings; although this child came at an inconvenient time, it’s still her own child. Of course, she would be upset with me for

having it removed.
“As for kneeling and apologizing, let’s just call that a joke. Brother Lewis is here, and I wouldn’t want him to think I’m someone who won’t let go of grudges, especially since Zelda nearly became his mate.”
Hearing that, Beta Lewis paused for a moment, then embraced Cheryl, casting a disinterested glance in my direction.
“Cheryl, you’re just too kind. That’s why she felt she could bully you so recklessly. No matter what happened in the past, you are my only partner now. For her to slander you and demand to apologize is the least she can do.”
Cheryl nestled closer to him, shyly smiling, yet her eyes challenged me.

“Zelda, you saw it yourself. I tried my best to help you, but Brother Howar and Brother Lewis wouldn’t agree. What do you think we should do now?”
Before I could respond, Alpha Howar made my answer painfully clear.
He grabbed the back of my neck, lifting me like a chick and hurled me into the elevator, leading me down to the hospital lobby, where he kicked my knee hard.
“Ah!”
I cried out in pain, collapsing to the floor. As I grit my teeth and tried to rise, Alpha Howar forced my head down, pressing me painfully against the ground, my face nearly flush with the floor, my body contorting in an agonizing position.

“Ungrateful wretch! I care for you, and you truly thought you could bully Cheryl? I’ll tell you this no one lays a finger on Cheryl under my watch. You kneel here until you fully recognize your mistakes!”
His voice was devoid of any emotion, completely void of the previous affection he had shown me.
Kneeling there, memories flooded my mind, and suddenly, I began to laugh softly.
“Alpha Howar, one day, you will regret this. You will absolutely regret it!”
“Stubborn and foolish!”
Alpha Howar exclaimed in frustration, then called two subordinates to keep watch over me, saying I couldn’t rise until I had knelt for at least ten hours.

The crowd around us grew, murmuring and speculating.
“What’s going on? Why is she kneeling here?”
“I heard she just accused Doctor Cheryl of removing her uterus during the abortion, but the check–up showed otherwise. That’s why Alpha Howar is making her apologize here.”
“How ridiculous! How could she even say something as absurd as that? Doctor Cheryl is Howar’s childhood friend and the most skilled doctor in this Pack; she would never do such a thing!”
“Exactly! She couldn’t even keep herself from getting pregnant and wanted to terminate it in secret, and now she’s making trouble for Doctor Cheryl. How shameless!”

This scene transported me back four months.
When Beta Lewis found me among the Rogues, the people helping him had looked at me the same way, with those judgmental
eyes.
And there stood Beta Lewis and Cheryl outside the crowd–one indifferent, as if I were entirely irrelevant to him.
The other squinted her eyes, a smug smile dancing on her vibrant red lips, silently mocking me.
She said, “What a pity, Zelda. Why don’t you just go die?”
Ten hours later, the onlookers gradually dispersed, and Alpha Howar’s men left too.

I endured the pain coursing through my body, clutching my knee as I slowly rose from the ground. Just as Cheryl desired, I took the elevator straight up to the rooftop on the eighteenth floor.
Across the rooftop, I could see a row of villas, with the first one being Cheryl’s home.
To make her commute easier, Alpha Howar had bought her a lavish private villa there.
The view from the rooftop was magnificent. I quickly spotted Alpha Howar and Cheryl sitting in the yard, drinking tea, while Beta Lewis stood nearby, preparing barbecue food for them.
The three of them were laughing and chatting, as if I were nothing more than a distant memory.

I glanced only briefly before turning my gaze back to the wind gusting across the rooftop.
Death is merely a fleeting moment, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end.
Because I promised that I would make Alpha Howar regret it.
