Chapter 12
“Emily, I’m sorry,” he choked out, his voice breaking. “It’s all my fault. Please… give me one more chance.”
“No.” My voice was calm, clear, and laced with unshakable finality.
He looked up, his eyes filled with regret and panic.
“I admit,” he said, “at first, being with you was just to cover up my feelings for Sophia, but later-”
“Later you realized I was easy to
manipulate?” I interrupted coldly, my words as sharp as a knife.
He shook his head quickly, but I just gave

him a bitter smile.
“Alpha Lucas, did you really think all omegas are stupid and meant to be controlled by you? Did you honestly think I’d believe you fell in love with me?”
“I truly fell in love with you!” he cried, his voice breaking. “I didn’t realize it until it was too late–but I swear, I did! I slowly fell in love with you, without even realizing it. And by the time I understood what you meant to me… I had already destroyed everything.”
Each of his words felt like a confession soaked in guilt and despair.
The memory of that night hit me like a wave -me, stripped bare, humiliated in front of everyone, standing in the courtyard as if I were some disgusting spectacle.

I looked down at him. Suddenly, I felt no pity. No pain. Just a clarity I’d never felt before.
“Your love? That’s a luxury I can’t afford.”
My voice remained steady, cold. “If you truly loved me, you wouldn’t have kicked me out, made me a joke in front of the entire pack- just because I fell asleep in the bathtub. You wouldn’t have let Sophia kiss you in front of me. And you sure as hell wouldn’t have hired a top–tier obstetric nurse to train me like I was some kind of servant.”
With every word I spoke, Lucas’s face grew paler.
I didn’t care. I didn’t stop. I turned and walked away, never once looking back. It should’ve ended there. But it didn’t.
From that day on, he followed me.

Everywhere.
Flowers. Gifts. Apologies. Endless attempts to win back a woman he had already
shattered.
I was drained, ready to move again–maybe even change packs–when the last person I ever wanted to see showed up.
Sophia.
She saw Lucas kneeling before me, like a lovesick fool, holding a bouquet of flowers, and her face twisted into something ugly.
Jealousy had turned her into something monstrous.
She clutched her stomach tightly, shoved her way through the crowd, and walked straight up to Lucas, her eyes flickering with

desperate hope. “Lucas… I’m pregnant.”
The gift in Lucas’s hand hung in midair. He turned to her–with just one glance–and his expression instantly froze into a cold mask.
“That pup should never exist,” he said, his voice ice–cold. “Get rid of it. Don’t ever come near me again. Every time I see you, I feel like I’m covered in filth.”
Sophia’s face drained to a sickly gray, her lips trembling.
But Lucas didn’t spare her another glance.
His eyes–his focus–were locked on me. Still chasing. Still begging. But it was too late.
I wasn’t about to let this pathetic duo ruin my day. I locked eyes with Lucas. “Do me a favor, Lucas–don’t ever show up in front

of me again. Just looking at you makes me sick.”
With that, I turned and walked away, not sparing him a single glance.
Lucas must have known–he would never earn my forgiveness. He grabbed Sophia’s arm, planning to drag her off for an abortion.
Sophia snapped. She jerked away from him, her eyes blazing with despair and hatred, then suddenly lunged at me, screaming, “Bitch! This is all your fault! If you’re dead, Lucas will belong to me!”
By the time I realized what was happening, it was already too late. She shoved me hard into the path of an oncoming car.
I saw the headlights. Heard the screech of tires. Then–bang.

Lucas’s body slammed into mine, knocking me to the ground just before the car hit him. He was thrown several feet, landing with a sickening thud, blood quickly pooling around him.
The sirens screamed. Paramedics rushed in.
After hours of emergency surgery, the doctors concluded: he would survive–but he’d never walk again. Sophia was arrested at the scene. When Amy arrived from the Golden Crescent Pack and learned that her only son would be paralyzed for the rest of his life, she completely broke down. In a fit of rage, she beat Sophia senseless, continuing until Sophia miscarried in the Pack’s judgment hall.
Later, guilt slammed into Amy like a freight train.

Meanwhile, Lucas…
When he finally woke up in the hospital bed, there was no hesitation in his decision. With his last remaining strength and wealth, he made sure that Sophia would rot in the Pack’s prison for the next several decades.
Two weeks later, Amy showed up at my door.
She knelt in front of me, sobbing uncontrollably. “Emily, it’s all my fault. Everything’s my fault. Please, go see Lucas… He knows he hurt you–he’s been punishing himself ever since. The Pack doctor says if he keeps going like this, he might break down completely…”
In the end, I went. Not because of Amy’s pleas, but because Lucas had saved my life.

When I walked into the hospital room, I barely recognized him. He was frail, his eyes hollow–no longer the strong, commanding Alpha he once was.
When he saw me, a spark flickered in his eyes–maybe hope, or even joy.
“Emily…”
I stood at the foot of his bed, my voice calm and steady.
“Thank you. Thank you for saving me.” His eyes welled with tears. “Emily, please… give. me another chance. I swear, I love you–l really do…”
I shook my head. “Lucas, everything between us… is over”
I watched the light in his eyes fade slowly,

like a candle being snuffed out in the wind.
But he still didn’t give up. “Then let me spend the rest of my life making it up to you…”
“No need.” I turned, taking a step away. “I hope you recover soon.”
With that, I walked out of the hospital. The sunlight fell over me.
That nightmare….
Finally, it was behind me.

The day I returned to the Celestial Moon Pack, the staff informed me there had been an issue with my checked luggage.

They led me into a room filled with red roses, their scent so overwhelming that even my wolf, wrinkled her nose.
And then I saw the TV video.
Alpha Georgie was down on one knee, holding a glittering ring.
“Sabrina Erickson, Will You Marry Me?”
His family and friends, cheering, shouting, and chanting, “Say yes! Say yes!”
Everyone thought I’d collapse into a puddle of tears, overcome with joy, and blurt out a breathless “I do.”
After all, this was Alpha Georgie, my fated mate–the man I’d spent five years chasing like a lovesick puppy. The one I thought I’d

finally won over.
But they all forgot.
Three years ago, during the promotion evaluation, Alpha Georgie accused me of plagiarizing Beta Daisy’s research. Worse, he reported me for causing a medical accident while intoxicated.
I was thrown out of the packhouse like some mangy stray, I was beaten to a pulp by the grieving family members of the so–called “victim.”
And if that wasn’t enough, I was exiled.
As a rogue, I was shunned by every pack for miles. Even rogues avoided me, which is saying something. With nowhere else to go, I had no choice but to travel to the Moonshadow Pack–Alpha king’s Pack,

begging for a chance to join their ranks.
And now here I was, in this rose–scented ambush, watching my fated mate propose like he hadn’t ruined my life.
Old Alpha Kenelm had tried to justify it to me earlier, saying,
“After you left, Alpha Georgie spent all his savings to cover the medical incident. He’s been waiting for you ever since. All these years, he’s cried himself to sleep holding your photo.”
I didn’t say a word. I just glanced at the marriage certificate peeking out of my bag- the one with Alpha king’s name on it.
