Chapter 3
I clung desperately to the railing, but the agonizing pain in my scalp forced me to release my grip, one finger at a time. The maids stood off to the side, whispering among themselves, none of them daring to interfere with an Alpha’s decision.
My nightgown ripped as I struggled, exposing my skin to the biting cold. The humiliation hit me like a tidal wave–last night’s memories flooding my mind. I was naked, humiliated in front of everyone. Lucas hadn’t even blinked.
“So, you’re still upset about last night,” he said coldly. “Fine. Stay angry. But don’t take it out on others.”
“You’ll kneel here and think about what you

did wrong,” he continued, his voice harsh. “When you finally understand, apologize to Sophia. Don’t you realize people are starting to think that the Alpha’s Family can’t stand having a widow in their home?” With that, he shoved me roughly into the snow.
My knees hit the frozen ground with a jolt, the cold piercing through my nightgown like a knife.
“Lucas, I didn’t do anything wrong” I gritted through clenched teeth, trembling with the cold, refusing to obey.
He scoffed and turned to the Beta, giving him a mocking smile. “Get everyone. Let them see how petty their Luna is.”
Within minutes, a dozen maids had gathered at the door, watching. I knelt alone in the snow like a criminal awaiting judgment.

“Say it again, I dare you!” Lucas shouted, his anger rising. “If you’re so desperate for a man, I can arrange for all the men in the pack to keep you company. But if you touch Sophia again, I’ll have you banished from the pack.”
Each of his words stung more than if I had been forced to walk naked before them all.
This was my mate of five years. The Alpha I had married. The one I had spent three years of my life with.
He could tolerate other men seeing me naked. He could even tolerate rumors about me sleeping around. But he couldn’t bear the thought of me upsetting the woman he truly cared for.
Sophia stood beside him, a smug smile

on her face, her voice dripping with false sweetness. “Lucas, don’t be so hard on Emily. She’s probably just in a bad mood…”
“Oh, so it’s okay to hit people just because you’re in a bad mood?” Lucas raised his voice, loud enough for the whole house to hear. “If she doesn’t apologize today, I don’t care if she faints–she’ll apologize. If she doesn’t, she stays down there!”
The snow began to fall. My hair and eyelashes quickly became coated with frost. My fingers were numb, my lips trembling uncontrollably from the cold.
Sophia took the opportunity to crouch beside me, pretending to show concern. But her words were knives, whispered low enough for only me to hear. “You know, last night Lucas said you’re not even worth a single strand of my hair. He said every time

he touches you, his wolf feels disgusteded. Honestly, if I were you, I would’ve alreadydy died to avoid this.”
I snapped my gaze up, locking eyes with herer cruel smile.
Something inside me broke. Anger erupteded from deep within, like a volcano. I grabbeded a handful of snow and threw it at her smug, 9, beautiful face.
Sophia let out a dramatic scream, falling to the ground as if struck by lightning.
That was the tipping point for Lucas. He grabbed the front of my nightgown, tearing it open, and shoved me roughly into the snow.
“So, you still won’t admit your mistake?” he growled, his voice full of fury..

Before I could respond, he scooped up another handful of snow and shoved it harshly inside my clothes. The ice–cold snow hit my body like a jolt of electricity. I couldn’t stop myself from letting out a scream that surprised even me.
But he didn’t stop. He kept shoving the snow into my face, my neck–rough, merciless- until my skin felt like it was burning from the cold.
“Apologize!” he roared.
I choked on the snow, coughing violently, tears slipping down my cheeks. I couldn’t speak a single word.
Furious, Lucas stood and turned to the Beta. “Two hours. Start the timer. If she doesn’t apologize, let her stay there. That’s my
order!”

Then, as if nothing had happened, he gently took off his coat and draped it over Sophia’s shoulders. “Come on,” he said softly, “let’s go inside before you catch a cold.”
They turned and walked away, as if I didn’t even exist. Their backs were like a slap to my face, a mark burned deep into my mind. The maids whispered among themselves. Some were laughing quietly, others giving me that look–pity, like I was no longer the Luna of this pack.
Time stretched on. The cold seeped into my bones. My knees were numb, my body shaking uncontrollably. I could feel myself swaying, losing consciousness, until finally, I collapsed face–first into the snow.
“Luna!” someone cried out, panic evident in their voice.
